Briefly discuss the weakness with the caloric theory

Physics

Modern theories reproduce caloric in the effective sense (similar to effective "particles" like phonons) for most phenomena it was used to explain. Mass was not really an issue because the fluid was assumed to be very "subtle" to easily permeate ordinary matter, and therefore to have negligible mass (from modern perspective, heating does add some minuscule mass due to mass-energy equivalence).

a 4kg metal block absorbs 5000j of energy and increases to a temperature of 22°c. the metal has a specific heat capacity of 250j
e-lub [12.9K]

Answer:

17 °C

Explanation:

From specific Heat capacity.

Q = cm(t₂-t₁)................. Equation 1

Where Q = Heat absorb by the metal block, c = specific heat capacity of the metal block, m = mass of the metal block, t₂ = final temperature, t₁ = Initial temperature.

make t₁ the subject of the equation

t₁ = t₂-(Q/cm)............... Equation 2

Given: t₂ = 22 °C, Q = 5000 J, m = 4 kg, c = 250 J/kg.°c

Substitute into equation 2

t₁ = 22-[5000/(4×250)

t₁ = 22-(5000/1000)

t₁ = 22-5

t₁ = 17 °C

How does a arrow represent displacement
Lera25 [3.4K]

Answer:

An arrow represents displacement. Because it's a vector quantity.

Vector quantity= Direction+Magnitude

When an arrow is put above a unit like

  • acceleration
  • displacement

it means that it's a vector quantity.

Hope this helps ;) ❤❤❤

Suppose the glass paperweight has index of refraction n=1.38. a) find the value of θ for which the reflection on the vertical su
zimovet [89]

Answer:

a)θ=71.89°

b)NO

Explanation:

Given that

For glass n= 1.38

We know that for air n'=1

The angle  for total internal reflection θc given as

sin θc=n'/n

By putting the values

sin θc=n'/n

sin θc=1/1.38

θc=46.43°

n'sinθ = n sinθref

sinθref = cosθc

n'sinθ =  n cosθc

1 x sinθ =1.38 x cos 46.43°

θ=71.89°

b)

NO

How does 3rd class lever make our work easier
sineoko [7]
In a third class lever, the effort is located between the load and the fulcrum. If the fulcrum is closer to the load, then less effort is needed to move the load. If the fulcrum is closer to the effort, then the load will move a greater distance. ... These levers are useful for making precise movements.
