Mitosis is a type of cell division in which new genetically identical cells are produced which help to repair and regenerate new cells.

Bone is a connective a tissue which is composed of osteocyte cells and solid matrix containing calcium and phosphorus. When bone breaks, some of the cells get damaged and cells are lost.  The mitosis occurs in the cells around damaged cells or tissues, which results into large number of new cells and replace the damage cells to fill the gap. This ensures that the broken bone is back to normal and can function properly.
