In civil rights time precipitating factors would be protests in response to the civil rights movement. It could also be a protest in response to how African Americans were being treated at the time.
Mobilization is the government making moves to gather the military and prepare them for a certain movement. During the civil rights movement an example of mobilization is when the National Guard was called in to help students as they started to attend schools that were predominantly white. They were called to make sure the peace was kept during this time.
Social control is the conformity of society to follow social norms because of laws or social pressure. During the civil rights movement children that went to school with their own race grew up with this being the norm. They were conforming because of the social pressure from family and friends. Once laws started changing, the law attempted to move social norms to integrate and the citizens were required to abide by the new laws.
