Two jet planes simultaneously started travelling in opposite directions from the same airport. Four hours later they were 3800 m

iles apart. If one plane traveled 80 miles per hour faster than the other, what was the speed of each plane?A tourist starts to walk up a mountain path that is 31 miles long at the rate of 4 miles per hour. After walking for a while, he gets tired and decides to get a taxi. The taxi gets him to the top travelling at a constant speed of 50 mph. If the tourist reaches the destination 2 hours after he started, what distance does he have to pay the cab driver for?

Answer:

Step-by-step explanation:

let the speed of one plane=x

speed of other plane=x+80

time=4 hrs

then 4x+4(x+80)=3800

4x+4x+320=3800

8x=3800-320

or 8x=3480

x=435

speed of one plane=435 m/h

speed of other plane=435+80=515 m/h

2.

Let he walks x hrs

then he take a taxi for 2-x hrs

4x+(2-x)50=31

4x+100-50x=31

-46x=-69

x=\frac{-69}{-46}=\frac{3}{2}

so he walks 3/2 hrs=1.5 hrs

travels by taxi=2-1.5=0.5 hrs

distance traveled by taxi=0.5×50=25 miles

Answer:

Step-by-step explanation:

ooooh I loved these.  ok. so if you have a set of lines like this, we will just use an "x" as an example for lines crossing. if you have 100 as the angle on the top, then the angle on the bottom will be exactly the same. the top and bottom are the same angle ALWAYS. the angles across from each other are the same. because brainly will timeout on me if I stop typing, I will post this and later I will post a picture of the first few finished as an example so you get what i'm talking.

Movie A took in $142.44 million on it’s first weekend. This topped the previous opening weekend revenue set by movie B by $4.14
stepladder [879]
Revenue of Movie A on first weekend = $ 142.44 million

According to the given statement, revenue of movie A was $4.14 million more than the revenue of movie B in their first weekends.

So, we can write:

Revenue of movie A = Revenue of movie B + $4.14 million

Revenue of movie B = 142.44 million - 4.14 million = $ 138.30 million.

Thus movie B take in $138.30 million on its opening weekend.

A ball is thrown into the air with an upward velocity of 36 ft/s. Its height h in feet after t seconds is given by the function
hram777 [196]
To find the the maximum value of a function, we set the first derivative equal to 0 and solve for the critical points. The first derivative is:

h'(t) = -32t + 36

Now we will find the critical points:

-32t  + 36 = 0

-4(8t-9) = 0

8t - 9 = 0

t = 9/8

As a decimal, the answer is 1.125

To find the maximum height, we plug t = 1.125 into h(t):

h(1.125) = -16(1.125)^2 + 36(1.125) + 5 = 25.25

So the maximum height is 25.25 feet at 1.13 seconds.
