Answer: The correct answer is B) Frameshift mutation.

The given mRNA sequence is GGU-GCU-CCU-AUU. When a nucleotide is added at the fourth location in the chain, it entirely changes the frame from the insertion of the nucleotide till the end of the gene sequence. This is called a frameshift mutation.

This is because after adding a nucleotide, a new frame is generated that will code for different amino acids and therefore a different protein will be synthesized.

On the contrary, chromosomal mutation is an abnormality in the chromosome ( in terms of number or structure) whereas substitution mutation is the one, which exchanges one base with another. Deletion of base also results in the frame-shift mutation.

Answer:

The correct answer is option B. "frameshift mutation".

Explanation:

Frameshift mutation is a type of genetic mutation characterized by changing the way a mRNA sequence is read in the ribosome, either by a deletion or an insertion. In this example, a nucleotide is added at the fourth location in a mRNA sequence with the codons GGU-GCU-CCU-AUU. This insertion would change the way the mRNA sequence is read in the ribosome, altering the second codon and therefore all the following codons in the sequence. Therefore, this is an example of a frameshift mutation.

To be considered acid rain, precipitation would have to be?
Korolek [52]
Acid rain is caused by a chemical reaction that begins when compounds like sulfur dioxide and nitrogen oxides are released into the air. These substances can rise very high into the atmosphere, where they mix and react with water, oxygen, and other chemicals to form more acidic pollutants, known as acid rain.

A mother carries one allele of a recessive gene for a disease on an autosome, and the father carries no recessive alleles of the
kifflom [539]

What is the likelihood of their child having the disease is:

A. 0%

Explanation:

 • The mother is heterozygous, thus she has an allele which is recessive and the other allele which is dominant.
 • The father has no recessive allele for the gene.
 • During meiosis in mother , two types of gametes will be produced. One type of gamete will have the recessive allele and the other type of gametes will have dominant allele.
 • During meiosis in father, only one type of gametes will be formed which will have the dominant allele only.
 • In a situation a female gamete with recessive allele is fertilized by a male gamete with dominant allele. The resulting zygote will be heterozygous. The effect of the recessive allele will be masked by the dominant allele and the child will not have the disease.
 • In a situation a female gamete with the dominant allele is fertilized by a male gamete with dominant allele then the resulting zygote will be homozygous for dominant allele and obvioiusly the individual will not have the disease.
 • Thus, in this case we can conclude that there is 0% chance of child having the disease.
