Add the sides together:

perimeter = \frac{7}{8} + \frac{7}{8} + \frac{3}{5} + \frac{3}{5}

simplify:

= \frac{7}{4} + \frac{6}{5} = \frac{7}{4} \times \frac{5}{5} + \frac{6}{5} \times \frac{4}{4}

= \frac{35}{20} + \frac{24}{20} = \frac{59}{20}

Answer is

\frac{59}{20} = 2.95cm

Two mechanics worked on a car. The first mechanic charged S95 per hour, and the second mechanic charged S115 per hour.
Norma-Jean [14]

The first mechanic worked for 10 hours and the second mechanic worked for 15 hours.

Step-by-step explanation:

Given,

Charges of first mechanic = $95 per hour

Charges of second mechanic = $115 per hour

Total hours = 25

Total amount charged = $2675

Let,

The number of hours worked by first mechanic = x

The number of hours worked by second mechanic = y

According to given statement;

x+y=25    Eqn 1

95x+115y=2675     Eqn 2

Multiplying Eqn 1 by 95

95(x+y=25)\\95x+95y=2375\ \ \ \ Eqn\ 3

Subtracting Eqn 3 from Eqn 2

(95x+115y)-(95x+95y)=2675-2375\\95x+115y-95x-95y=300\\20y=300

Dividing both sides by 20

\frac{20y}{20}=\frac{300}{20}\\y=15

Putting y=15 in Eqn 1

x+15=25\\x=25-15\\x=10

The first mechanic worked for 10 hours and the second mechanic worked for 15 hours.

DerKrebs [107]

Answer:

  80 ft²

Step-by-step explanation:

The carpet area will be the area of the pentagon less the 25 square feet taken up by the tree. The area of the pentagon is found by putting the given numbers into the given formula.

  pentagon area = 5((7 ft)(6 ft))/2 = 105 ft²

  carpet area = 105 ft² -25 ft² = 80 ft²

Peter will need 80 square feet of carpet.

Order the following numbers written in scientific notation from greatest to least: 3.9 × 105, 6.1 × 103, 9.3 × 105, 1.6 × 103 A.
Licemer1 [7]

The numbers are:

3.9 × 105 = 409.5

6.1 ×103 = 628.3

9.3 × 105 = 976.5

1.6 × 103 = 164.8

Arranging from greatest to least and in scientific notation form gives:

9.3 × 105 , 6.1 × 103 , 3.9 × 105 , 1.6 × 103

*(Seems like there is no correct answer from the choices given there).
