Cubism was a revolutionary style of modern art created by Pablo Picasso and Georges Braque at the beginning of the 20th century which challenged conventional and realistic forms of art by representing aspects of reality thorough fragmented appearance, ambiguous forms, and geometric shapes and figures, which emphasized the two-dimensional flatness of the canvas instead of the illusion of depth, as it was usual in former pieces of arts. It was an innovative style of art and not all accepted the change well, especially those who wanted to stick to the traditional, realistic type of art that had existed up to that time.
