A car is traveling at 50 mi/h when the brakes are fully applied, producing a constant deceleration of 38 ft/s2. what is the dist
e-lub [12.9K]

Convert 38 ft/s^2 to mi/h^2. Then we se the conversion factor > 1 mile = 5280 feet and 1 hour = 3600 seconds.

So now we show it > 38  \frac{ft}{s^2}  x  \frac{1mi}{5280ft} x  \frac{(3600s)^2}{(1h)^2} = 93272.27  \frac{mi}{h^2}

Then we have to use the formula of constant acceleration to determine the distance traveled by the car before it ended up stopping.

Which the formula for constant acceleration would be > v_2^2=v_1^2 + 2as

The initial velocity is 50mi/h (v_1=50)

When it stops the final velocity is (v_2=0)

Since the given is deceleration it means the number we had gotten earlier would be a negative so a = -93272.27

Then we substitute the values in....

0^2 = 50^2 + 2(-93272.27)s

0 = 2500 - 186544.54s

Isolate S next.

185644.54s= 2500

s =  2500/(185644.54)

s=0.0134

So we can say the car stopped at 0.0134 miles before it came to a stop but to express the distance traveled in feet we need to use the conversion factor of 1 mile = 5280 feet in otherwards > 0.0134 mi * \frac{5280ft}{1mi} = 70.8 ft
So this means that the car traveled in feet 70.8 ft before it came to a stop.

A particle moves along the x axis so that its velocity at time t is given by v(t)=
vodomira [7]

Answer:

a = 0.7267 ,  acceleration is positive therefore the speed is increasing

Explanation:

The definition of acceleration is

         a = dv / dt

they give us the function of speed

         v = - (t-1) sin (t² / 2)

         a = - sin (t²/2) -  (t-1) cos (t²/2)  2t / 2

         a = - sin (t²/2) - t (t-1)  cos (t²/2)

the acceleration for t = 4 s

          a = - sin (4²/2) - 4 (4-1) cos (4²/2)

          a = -sin 8 - 12 cos 8

remember that the angles are in radians

          a = 0.7267

the problem does not indicate the units, but to be correct they must be m/s²

We see that the acceleration is positive therefore the speed is increasing

The balmer series is formed by electron transitions in hydrogen that
RSB [31]

Answer:

The Balmer series refers to the spectral lines of hydrogen, associated to the emission of photons when an electron in the hydrogen atom jumps from a level n \geq 3 to the level n=2.

The wavelength associated to each spectral line of the Balmer series is given by:

\frac{1}{\lambda}=R_H (\frac{1}{2^2}-\frac{1}{n^2})

where R_H is the Rydberg constant for hydrogen, and where n is the initial level of the electron that jumps to the level n = 2.

The first few spectral lines associated to this series are withing the visible part of the electromagnetic spectrum, and their wavelengths are:

656 nm (red, corresponding to the transition 3 \rightarrow 2)

486 nm (green, 4 \rightarrow 2)

434 nm (blue, 5 \rightarrow 2)

410 nm (violet, 6 \rightarrow 2)

All the following lines lie in the ultraviolet part of the spectrum. The limit of the Balmer series, corresponding to the transition \infty \rightarrow 2, is at 364.6 nm.

Factors that affect acceleration due to gravity.<br>
hram777 [196]

Answer

Factors Affecting Acceleration Due to Gravity

(1) Position on the planetary surface, it is higher at the axis (poles),

(2) Mass of the planet, higher with planets of larger masses

(3) Distance between object and the centre of planet, the larger the distance, the smaller the acceleration due to gravity.
