#4

when an object is pushed by applied force it accelerated by

a = 5.9 m/s^2

now here we will have

F_{ap} = 38 N

m = 4.5 kg

a = 5.9 m/s^2

now we can say that net force on the object is applied force and friction force

this net force is given by Newton's II law as

F_{net} = ma

F_{ap} - F_f = ma

38 - F_f = 4.5*5.9

38 - F_f = 26.55

F_f = 11.45 N

so friction force will be 11.45 N

#5

when an object is pushed by applied force it accelerated by

a = 6.5 m/s^2

now here we will have

F_{f} = 5.6 N

m = 1.9 kg

a = 6.5 m/s^2

now we can say that net force on the object is applied force and friction force

this net force is given by Newton's II law as

F_{net} = ma

F_{ap} - F_f = ma

F_{ap} - 5.6 = 1.9*6.5

F_{ap} - 5.6= 12.35

F_{ap} = 17.95 N

so applied force will be 17.95 N

#6

Given that

mass of hockey Puck = 0.8 kg

applied force on the puck = 570 N

acceleration of the puck = 682.5 m/s^2

now we can say that net force on the object is applied force and drag force of the air

this net force is given by Newton's II law as

F_{net} = ma

F_{ap} - F_d = ma

570 - F_d = 0.8*682.5

570 - F_d = 546

F_d = 570 - 546 = 24 N

so drag force due to air on the puck will be 24 N

#7)

Static friction is always stronger than sliding friction because in static situation of the object the bonding of the molecules of two surfaces will be very strong and hence it requires more force to start the motion, once the motion has been started the bonding of two surfaces becomes weak and then object can continue its motion with less friction.

#8

Given that

mass of box = 3.8 kg

applied force on the box = 27 N

acceleration of the box = 4.8 m/s^2

now we can say that net force on the object is applied force and friction force of the ground

this net force is given by Newton's II law as

F_{net} = ma

F_{ap} - F_f = ma

27 - F_f = 3.8*4.8

27 - F_f = 18.24

F_f = 27 - 18.24 = 8.76 N

so friction force due to ground on the box will be 8.76 N

A student has a displacement of 304 m north in 180 s. What was the student's average velocity?
DanielleElmas [232]

Answer:

v = 1.69 m/s

Explanation:

Given that,

Displacement of the student is 304 m due North and it takes 180 s.

We need to find the student's average velocity. Using formula of velocity.

Velocity = displacement/time

v=\dfrac{304\ m}{180\ s}\\\\v=1.69\ m/s

Hence, the student's average velocity is 1.69 m/s.

Digestive system: consists of the gastrointestinal tract plus the accessory organs of digestion. Digestion involves the breakdown of food into smaller and smaller components, until they can be absorbed and assimilated into the body.

Endocrine system: a chemical messenger system comprising feedback loops of the hormones released by internal glands of an organism directly into the circulatory system, regulating distant target organs.

Eukaryotes: organisms whose cells have a nucleus enclosed within a nuclear envelope.

Excretory system: an organism's body that performs the function of excretion, the bodily process of discharging wastes.

Golgi Apparatus/complex: an organelle found in most eukaryotic cells. Part of the endomembrane system in the cytoplasm, it packages proteins into membrane-bound vesicles inside the cell before the vesicles are sent to their destination.

Lysosome: a membrane-bound cell organelle that contains digestive enzymes. They break down excess or worn-out cell parts. They may be used to destroy invading viruses and bacteria.

Mitochondria: a membrane-bound cell organelles that generate most of the chemical energy needed to power the cell's biochemical reactions.

Muscular system: an organ system consisting of skeletal, smooth and cardiac muscles. It permits movement of the body, maintains posture and circulates blood throughout the body

Nervous system: the network of nerve cells and fibers which transmits nerve impulses between parts of the body.

Nucleus: a membrane-bound organelle that contains DNA of eukaryotic organisms. As such, it serves to maintain the integrity of the cell by facilitating transcription and replication processes.

Organ: a group of tissues in a living organism that have been adapted to perform a specific function.

Organism: an individual animal, plant, or single-celled life form.

Organ system: a group of organs that work together as a biological system to perform one or more functions

Prokaryotes: a microscopic single-celled organism that has neither a distinct nucleus with a membrane nor other specialized organelles.

Ribosome: a minute particle consisting of RNA and associated proteins found in large numbers in the cytoplasm of living cells. They bind messenger RNA and transfer RNA to synthesize polypeptides and proteins.

Respiratory system: a biological system consisting of specific organs and structures used for gas exchange in animals and plants.

Rough endoplasmic reticulum: an organelle found in eukaryotic cells. Its main function is to produce proteins. It is made up of cisternae, tubules and vesicles.

Skeletal system: The human skeleton is the internal framework of the human body.

Smooth ER: is a membranous organelle found in most eukaryotic cells

Tissue: a group of cells, in close proximity, organized to perform one or more specific functions.

Vacuole: a membrane-bound organelle.

When the valve between the 2.00-L bulb, in which the gas pressure is 2.00 atm, and the 3.00-L bulb, in which the gas pressure is
padilas [110]

Answer:

P_{C} = 3.2\, atm

Explanation:

Let assume that gases inside bulbs behave as an ideal gas and have the same temperature. Then, conditions of gases before and after valve opened are now modelled:

Bulb A (2 L, 2 atm) - Before opening:

P_{A} \cdot V_{A} = n_{A} \cdot R_{u} \cdot T

Bulb B (3 L, 4 atm) - Before opening:

P_{B} \cdot V_{B} = n_{B} \cdot R_{u} \cdot T

Bulbs A & B (5 L) - After opening:

P_{C} \cdot (V_{A} + V_{B}) = (n_{A} + n_{B})\cdot R_{u} \cdot T

After some algebraic manipulation, a formula for final pressure is derived:

P_{C} = \frac{P_{A}\cdot V_{A} + P_{B}\cdot V_{B}}{V_{A}+V_{B}}

And final pressure is obtained:

P_{C} = \frac{(2\,atm)\cdot (2\,L)+(4\,atm)\cdot(3\,L)}{5\,L}

P_{C} = 3.2\, atm

A projectile was launched horizontally with a velocity of 388 m/s, 2.89 m above the ground. How long did it take the projectile
tamaranim1 [39]

Answer:

Explanation:

Given

Velocity = 388m/s

Height S = 2.89m

Required

Time

Using the equation of motion

S =ut+1/2gt²

2.89 = 388t+1/2(9.8)t²

2.89 = 388t+4.9t²

Rearrange

4.9t²+388t-2.89 =0

Factorize

t = -388±√388²-4(4.9)(2.89)/2(4.9)

t= -388±√(388²-56.644)/9.8

t = -388±387.93/9.8

t =0.073/9.8

t = 0.00744 seconds
