Answer:The insufficient justification effect

Explanation:The insufficient justification effect is a theory proposed by Festinger and Carlsmith which gives an explanation of how an individual will adjust in order to eliminate the effect of cognitive dissonance.

Cognitive dissonance occurs when one feels uncomfortable because they are faced with conflicting beliefs.

The insufficient justification effect occurs when an individual identifies an internal cause to what is happening because there is no external cause for it . When someone justifies the behavior it reduces the effect of cognitive dissonance especially when they don't have enough information to justify that behavior externally.
