Answer:

W= 1, J=9 and A= 8

Step-by-step explanation:

Given equation: WW+JJ+AA=WJA and the values must be positive integers and different from each other.

Now find the value for W, J, and A.

The two digit number has 10th digit and unit digit

∴ WW= 10W+W= 11W

   JJ=  10J+J= 11J

   AA= 10A+A= 11A

In equation we can write as 11W+11J+11A= WJA

Similary for three digit number, it has 100th digit, 10th digit and unit digit.

∴ WJA= 100W+10J+A

In the given equation we can write as 11W+11J+11A= 100W+10J+A

Solving the equation now,

11W+11J+11A= 100W+10J+A

Subtracting 11W, 10J and A on both side

⇒ J+10A= 89W

Remember, the values must be positive integers and different from each other.

Now using the value between 1 to 9 to make equation equal.

If we use 1 for W, 8 for A and 9 for J

⇒ 9+10\times 8= 89\times 1

⇒ 89=89

∴ Value will be W= 1, J= 9 and A= 8.

Semmy [17]

Answer: 0.62

Step-by-step explanation:

Given : A recent Harris Poll survey of 1010 U.S. adults selected at random showed that 627 consider the occupation of firefighter to have very great prestige.

i.e. The sample size of U.S. adults : n= 1010

The number of U.S. adults consider the occupation of firefighter to have very great prestige : x= 627

Now , the probability that a U.S adult selected at random thinks the occupation of firefighters has very great prestige will be :

\hat{p}=\dfrac{x}{n}\\\\=\dfrac{627}{1010}=0.620792079208\approx0.62  [ To the nearest hundredth]

Hence, the estimated probability that a U.S adult selected at random thinks the occupation of firefighters has very great prestige = 0.62
