The force of gravity on the moon is approximately one sixth that of the earth. The direct variation formula for weight on the ea

rth compared to weight on the moon would be e = 6m, where e = weight on the earth and m = weight on the moon. The space suit that an astronaut wears while making a moon walk would weigh approximately 90 pounds on earth. What would be the weight of a 180 pound man wearing a space suit on the moon

Answer:

m = 45 pounds

The weight is 45 pounds

Step-by-step explanation:

The formula for the variation is

e = 6m

For the space suit that weighs 90 pounds on Earth

90 = 6m

m = 90/6

m = 15

It's going to weigh 15 pounds on the moon

If the man's weight on Earth is 180 pounds and space suit is 90 pounds

Total weight on Earth vis 180+90= 270 pounds

Weight on moon is

270 = 6m

m= 270/6

m = 45 pounds

180+90=6m combine like terms on left side

270=6m divide both sides by 6

m=45 lb

6 miles more than his previous distance so...

NOTE you can also use 1.3 instead of .3 as the percent to get the answer with out addition.

Need answer for d with working

Answer:

Question D.

Pretty simple if you know what the distributive property is. In this equation, you notice 2 fractions outside the parenthesis. This means you must multiply this fraction by every number within its corresponding parenthesis. So, if you distribute the new equation would be (\frac{5}{4}y+ 1)=(\frac{2}{3}y-\frac{1}{3}). After this isolate the variable y and solve. I'll leave that to you so you can get something out of it, because my entire explanation would be useless if you just looked at the answer and left, not knowing how to do it in the future. :)
