In a local university, 40% of the students live in dormitories. A random sample of n = 80 students is selected for a particular

study.
(a) What is the sampling distribution of P? Please provide its general shape, its standard deviation, and its mean.
(b) What is the probability that the sample proportion (the proportion living in the dormitories) is between 0.30 and 0.50?

Answer:

a) p is normally distributed with mean P = 0.4 and standard deviation

δ = 0.05477

b) P( 0.3 < p < 0.5) = 0.9312

Step-by-step explanation:

a) What is the sampling distributión of P?

    p(sample proportion) is normally distributed with mean P and standard

    deviation δ = \sqrt{\frac{P(1-P)}{n} }

    how P = 0.40  population proportion of the students live in dormitories,

    then p is normally distributed with mean P = 0.4 and standard deviation

     δ = \sqrt{\frac{0.4(1-0.4}{80} }

     δ = 0.05477

b) P( 0.3 < p < 0.5)

    Standardizing

    z = (p - P)/δ

    z_{1} = \frac{0.3-0.4}{0.05477}

                    = -1.82

    z_{2} = \frac{0.5-0.4}{0.05477}

                    = 1.82

     P(-1.82 < z < 1.82) = P(z < 1.82) - P(z<-1.82)

                                   =0.9656 - 0.0344

     P(-1.82 < z < 1.82) =  0.9312

MatroZZZ [7]

Answer:

32

Step-by-step explanation:

  • 3(n+20) = 3(4+20) = 3(24) = 72
  • 3n+20 = 3(4)+20= 12+20=32

If n represents the amount of flowers they sold, then the correct answer should be 32. The cost for each flower they sold would be 3 x 4 and then add $20 for advertising.

Determine whether the graph can represent a normal curve. If it cannot, explain why.
dedylja [7]

Answer:

  • The graph cannot represent a normal density function because it is not symmetric.

Step-by-step explanation:

The second and third descriptions are false on their face: neither describes a characteristic of the graph shown. A normal distribution is symmetric about the mean; this graph is not symmetric, so cannot represent a normal distribution.

The producer of a certain medicine claims that its bottling equipment is very accurate and that the standard deviation of all it
Alekssandra [29.7K]

Answer:

x^2 =  22.99

Step-by-step explanation:

Given data:

standard deviation of all filled bottles = 0.1

overall hypothesis is significant at\sigma = 0.1

for test statistics, use chi-square test

x^2 = \frac{(n-1) s^2}{\sigma^2}

where

n - sample size

s =simple deviation

x^2 =\frac{(20-1)0.011^2}{0.1^2}

x^2 =  22.99

Artist 52 [7]

Answer:

9 inches

Step-by-step explanation:

(x + 2)² = 121

√(x + 2)² = √121

x + 2 = 11

x + 2 - 2 = 11 - 2

x = 9

Strictly speacking, since 'c' is defined in the statement this shoudl work:

Part 1) According to the exercise, the letter 'c' represents the total cost of the three pounds of oranges. So c is the total cost of the three pounds of oranges.

Part 2) Rami has three pounds of oranges. In order to know how much a pound of oranges cost, he will have to divide by 3 the total cost of the three pounds 'c'

Part 3) The cost per pound is:
