Answer:

They have a hydrophilic and hydrophobic end

Explanation:

The structure of detergents enables them to perform their functions as a cleansing agent for removing stains. Detergents are more preferable to soap for cleaning because they are indifferent to water hardness and can retain their cleansing properties in any medium.

A typical detergent has a hydrophilic head (-SO₃⁻Na⁺)  and a hydrophobic tail, a long chain hydrocarbon from C₁₂ to C₁₈ or a benzene ring having a long chain hydrocarbon as its substituent.

This structure enables the hydrophilic head to bind with water and makes the detergent soluble. The other head head attaches to the fabric, in this case the feather.

The property that makes detergents able to remove stains lies in the structural arrangement of their component elements.

What are the 4 different types of bonds and how are they formed?
miv72 [106K]

There are four types of chemical bonds essential for life to exist: Ionic Bonds, Covalent Bonds, Hydrogen Bonds, and van der Waals interactions. We need all of these different kinds of bonds to play various roles in biochemical interactions. These bonds vary in their strengths.

To play a variety of roles in biochemical interactions, we require all of these diverse sorts of linkages. The tensile strength of these linkages varies. In chemistry, we consider the range of strengths between ionic and covalent bonds to be overlapping. This indicates that in water, ionic bonds usually dissociate. As a result, we shall consider these bonds from strongest to weakest in the following order:

Covalent is followed by ionic, hydrogen, and van der Waals.

Write the scientific term.
Reil [10]

Answer:  Solubility.

Explanation:

Solubility is defined as the maximum amount of solute dissolved per 100 g of the solvent at a certain fixed temperature to form a saturated solution.

STP condition is Standard Temperature and Pressure condition which is  temperature of 273 K and pressure of 1 atm.

Thus the scientific term for "the number of grams of solute dissolved in 100 g of the solvent to form a saturated solution at STP" is called as Solubility.
