The baby will weigh approximately 14.18 pounds after 6 months of birth.

Step-by-step explanation:

Step 1; The baby weighed 7 pounds when it was born and started gaining weight after the fourth day. We need to find the baby's weight 25 weeks after he's born. Since he only gains weight from the 5th day, we need to find the weight he gained in 24 weeks but we need to know his weight in the 25th week we need to calculate his weight in the 23rd week.

Step 2; If the baby gains 5 ounces a week, it will gain 23 times that 5 ounces after 23 weeks.

Weight gained in 23 weeks = 23 weeks × 5 ounces a week = 115 ounces.

By converting ounces into pounds, 115 ounces = 7.1875 pounds.

So the baby's weight in the 25th week = 7 + 7.1875 = 14.1875 pounds.

Carol has only 20p and 10p coins in her purse she has three times as many 20p coins and 10p coins if Carol has ?4.20 altogether,
irinina [24]

Suppose that Carol has x 10p coins in her purse. Since she has three times as many 20p coins as 10p coins, then she has 3x 20p coins in her purse.

x coins of 10p value $0.10x and 3x coins of 20p value $0.60x.

In total this amount of money is $(0.10x+0.60x)=$0.70x that is exactly $4.20. Thus, you get the equation

0.70x=4.20.

Solve it:

x=\dfrac{4.20}{0.70}=6.

Carol has 6 coins of 10p and 3·6=18 coins of 20p.
