For example: Square has dimension a
A = a²  and if every dimension is multiplied by k new dimension would be:
A 1 = k² a² = k² A.
Or the area of rhombus: A = d1 * d 2 / 2
New area is: A 1 = k d 1 * k d 2 / 2 =  k² A
Answer: If every dimension of two-dimensional figure is multiplied by k, the area is multiplied by k².

Solve for d. −8+6=−10+10
Vlada [557]

we need to find d=equation, so:

−8+6=−10+10

-8d=-10k+10-6

-8d=-10k+4

d=(-10k+4)/(-8)

\begin{gathered} d=\frac{-10}{-8}k+\frac{4}{-8} \\ d=\frac{5}{4}k-\frac{1}{2} \end{gathered}

So the answer is:

d=(5/4)k-1/2

or

d=1.25k-0.5

Approximately how many times greater is 8.5×108 than 3.4×105 ? A 2.5 B 250 C 2,500 D 25,000
Vlada [557]

Solution:

we have been asked to find that , how many times one number is to the other given numbers.

To do this we will divide the larger number by the smaller number and the resulting number will be the answer of the question.

Here the larger number is 8.5\times10^8

The smaller number is 3.4\times 10^5

Now lets divide as follows

\frac{8.5\times10^8}{3.4\times 10^5} =\frac{8.5}{3.4}\times 10^{8-5}\\ \\\frac{8.5\times10^8}{3.4\times 10^5} =2.5\times10^3=2500

Hence the correct option is C.
