Why did Hammurabi have his laws engraved in stone and placed in a public place?

This was actually a very smart behaviour. This way the law was accessible to everyone so on one hand, noone could say "I didn't know" and on the other hand it could be used for reference by anyone and people would not need to seek council in every matter. This also decreased the possibility to abuse power (if the law was only accessible to few, those few could abuse their power by manipulating it in their favour).

Tamiku [17]

Social Darwinism was a theory that was popularized in the late 1800s, and which was taken from the ideas of Darwin on evolution (although interpreted in an inaccurate way). Social darwinists believed that there were different classes of people, and that some were superior to others. This justified inequality, as the best would rise to the top in a manner similar to the "survival of the fittest" that takes place in the natural world.

It is likely that Social Darwinists believed immigrants to be an inferior class. They most likely believed that their inability to rise to the top were evidence of their inferiority, and might have supported restrictions as a way to ensure healthy competition.

By 36 months of age, you can accurately determine which hand a child will be most dominant with. Prior to that, most children shift objects from one hand to another and learn through trial and error. Between 70 and 90 percent of the population is right handed, making it far more likely most children you encounter will be right handed.
