Hi there!
The answer is A is irrational, but B is rational.

An irrational number is a number that cannot be written as a fraction.

Expression A.
\sqrt{64} + \sqrt{5} = 64 + 2.23606...
This cannot be written as a fraction and therefore the expression is irrational.

Expression B.
\sqrt{64} + \sqrt{4} = 8 + 2 = 10 = \frac{10}{1}
This can be written as a fraction and therefore the expression is rational

Your answer:
A is irrational, but B is rational.

~ Hope this helps you!

Weird question wording. I take it should mean that this is a quadratic equation with solutions of x = -5 and x = 8. Then these are the factors: (x+5) and (x-8).
 So

(x+5)(x-8) = 0 is the equation because x = -5 and x = 8 can make left-side equal to 0. But we expand so it becomes x² - 3x - 40 = 0

Use the quadratic formula to solve the equation -3x2-x-3=0
Novosadov [1.4K]

Answer:

x=\frac{1+\sqrt{35}i}{-6}\,\, and\,\, x=\frac{1-\sqrt{35}i}{-6}\\

Step-by-step explanation:

the quadratic formula is:

x=\frac{-b\pm\sqrt{b^2-4ac}}{2a}

a= -2, b = -1 and c =-3

Putting values in the formula

x=\frac{-(-1)\pm\sqrt{(-1)^2-4(-3)(-3)}}{2(-3)}\\x=\frac{1\pm\sqrt{-35}}{-6}\\x=\frac{1+\sqrt{-35}}{-6}\,\, and\,\, x=\frac{1-\sqrt{-35}}{-6}\\We\,\, know \,\,that \,\,\sqrt{-1} = i  \\x=\frac{1+\sqrt{35}i}{-6}\,\, and\,\, x=\frac{1-\sqrt{35}i}{-6}\\

So, x=\frac{1+\sqrt{35}i}{-6}\,\, and\,\, x=\frac{1-\sqrt{35}i}{-6}\\

Describe the difrence between a metroroid metor and a metorite
lys-0071 [83]

Answer: When meteoroids enter Earth's atmosphere (or that of another planet, like Mars) at high speed and burn up, the fireballs or “shooting stars” are called meteors. When a meteoroid survives a trip through the atmosphere and hits the ground, it's called a meteorite.

Neha used 4 bananas and 5 oranges in her fruit salad. Daniel used 7 bananas and 9 oranges. Did Neha and Daniel use the same rati
allochka39001 [22]

Answer:

<em>Neha and Daniel do not use the same ratio of bananas to oranges</em>

<em>Neha used the grater ratio of bananas to oranges</em>

Step-by-step explanation:

<u>Ratios</u>

The ratio is expressed as a:b, where a and b are whole numbers.

Neha used 4 bananas and 5 oranges in her fruit salad. Daniel used 7 bananas and 9 oranges in his.

We use cross multiplication to find if the ratios of bananas to oranges are the same.

Neha s ratio is 4:5

Daniel s ratio is 7:9

To compare both ratios we use the expression:

\displaystyle \frac{4}{5} =?\frac{7}{9}

The question mark means equality could be true or false.

The cross multiplication consists of multiplying the denominator of one side by the numerator of the other side:

4*9 =? 5*7

Operating:

36 =? 35

The equality is false, thus

Neha and Daniel do not use the same ratio of bananas to oranges

Since the left side of the equality is greater than the second:

Neha used the grater ratio of bananas to oranges
