Answer:

The price per ticket should be $37.5

Explanation:

First we need to determine the change in demand (attendance) as a result of every $1 increase in the price of ticket.

The ticket price increased by $4 (from 50 to 54) and the demand fell by 400 (from 2500 to 2100). The change per dollar is, 400 / 4 = 100.

So, for every $1 increase in price, demand falls by 100.

The revenue is calculated by multiplying price by quantity demanded. Revenue equation will be,

Let x be the change in price from $50.

Revenue = (50 + x)  * (2500 - 100x)

Revenue = 125000 - 5000x + 2500x - 100x²

Revenue = 125000 - 2500x - 100x²

To calculate the price that maximizes the revenue, we need to take the derivative of this equation.

d/dx = 0 - 1 * 2500x° - 2 * 100x

0 = -2500  -  200x

2500 = -200x

2500 / -200 = x

-12.5 = x

Price should be 50 - 12.5 = 37.5

At price $37.5 the revenue of the Opera House is maximized.

Alex Company rents space to a tenant for $2,200, per month. The tenant currently owes two months rent, November and December. Th
kaheart [24]

Answer:

The correct answer is D

Explanation:

The journal entry which is to be posted on December 31, is as:

Rent receivable A/c............................Dr   $4,400

        Rent Earned A/c...............................Cr    $4,400

As the two months rent is not paid so the adjusting entry which is to be posted is that the rent receivable account is debited whereas the rent earned account is credited with the amount of two months rent. (which is $2,200 + $2,200 = $4,400).

Answer:

$357 Unfavorable

Explanation:

Fixed manufacturing overhead volume variance identifies the amount by which actual production differs from budgeted production.

Fixed manufacturing overhead volume variance = Actual Output at Budgeted rate - Budgeted Fixed Overheads

                                                                  = (5,230 × $5.10) - ($5.10 × 5,300)

                                                                   = $26,673 - $27,030

                                                                   = $357 Unfavorable

A company that produces pleasure boats has decided to expand one of its lines. Current facilities are insufficient to handle the
Paraphin [41]

Answer:

(a) Alternative A = 401 or more

    Alternative B = 0 to 33

    Alternative C = 34 to 399

(b) Alternative C will yield the lowest total cost

Explanation:

Alternative A:

Fixed costs = FCa = $250,000

Variable costs per boat = VCa = $500

Alternative B:

Variable costs per boat = VCb = $2500

Alternative C:

Fixed costs = FCc = $50,000

Variable costs per boat = VCc = $1000

We have to find crossover point with the alternative which have nearest variable cost

Hence, we find crossover point between pair of Alternative A and C and pair of Alternative B & C

For A & C

Let the crossover point be x

FCa + VCa * x = FCc + VCc * x

250,000 + 500x = 50000 + 1000x

x = 400

Higher number is preferred for Alternative with higher fixed cost.

Hence, for alternative A, the range should be 400 or more

For alternative C, the range should be less than 400

For B & C

Let the crossover point be y

FCb + VCb * y = FCc + VCc * y

0 + 2500x = 50000 + 1000y

y = 33.33

Higher number is preferred for Alternative with higher fixed cost.

Hence, for alternative C, the range should be 34 or more

For alternative B, the range should be less than 33

As seen from above,

Alternative A = 401 or more

Alternative B = 0 to 33

Alternative C = 34 to 399

Indifference points of 33.33 and 400 are not included in the above answer.

b.

For an annual volume of 150 boats, this fall in the range of 34 to 399

Hence, Alternative C will yield the lowest total cost for an expected annual volume of 150 boats
