ection of pipe is 12 feet shorter than the other three fourths of the pipe is 120 feet how long is the longer piece of pipe? can you help me set up an algebraic equation?

Let x = the shorter piece and Let y = the longer piece.

(3/4)x = 120

x = 120 / (3/4)

x = 120 * (4/3 = 480/3) = 160 feet

y = 160 + 12
