When conducting any research you need to be clear what the aim or goal of the study is, which is the directive of the assignment and strictly adhere to it. If for example you are asked to find out employment rates for 18 to 25 year olds in your local area and instead you research employment rates for 30 to 35 year olds in your neighboring town you have failed the assignment and your research is invalid.
