Mark sold 218 tickets for the school play and made $1,363. Adult tickets are $8 and
Rom4ik [11]

Answer: 91

Step-by-step explanation:

Let adults tickets be a

Let students ticket be b.

The information in the question can be presented as an equation as:

a + b = 218 .......... i

8a + 5b = 1363 ......... ii

Multiply equation i by 5

Multiply equation ii by 1

5a + 5b = 1090 ........ iii

8a + 5b = 1363 ....... iv

Subtract iii from iv

3a= 273

a = 273/3

a = 91

Number of adult's ticket sold = 91

The weight of a baby measured in pounds doubles. Does its weight measured in kilograms also double? Explain your answer.?
kvv77 [185]

bearing in mind that 1Kg ≈ 2.2lbs.

so, if a baby is say 2.2lbs, and then it doubles in weight, to 4.4lbs.

well, we know when the baby was 2.2lbs it was exactly 1Kg, but when it went up to 4.4lbs, is it 2Kgs?  well, yes, 2Kgs = 2.2 + 2.2 or 2(2.2).

so, multiplying the lbs value by some factor, will retain the Kg:lbs ratio.
