Explanation:

1. What is a longitudinal wave?

  • A wave vibrating in the direction of propagation
  • This is also called "pressure waves"
  • Example: Sound waves, ultrasound waves

2. When you hear a sound wave through the air, what are you detecting?

We are detecting the sound wave through the ears. There is a part called ear drum present inside the ear and it turn contains 3 bones which makes us to hear the sounds. When sound waves enters, the ear drum vibrates.

3. In which direction does the material vibrate, as energy travels through it?

The direction is perpendicular to the direction of energy transport.

4. When a wave transmits, or transfers, energy, do the individual molecules or particles also move from one end to the other?

Yes, the particles move from one end to other.

Identify the locations within the human body for Hyaline, Elastic and Fibrocartilage.
belka [17]

Answer:

A flexible connective tissue, known as cartilage varies from bones in many ways, its microcomposition is less developed in comparison to the bone and is avascular. It is not supplied with nerves and thus depends upon the process of diffusion to attain nutrients. The three kinds of cartilage are fibrous, hyaline, and elastic.

Of these the most widespread kind is the hyaline cartilage, it looks like glass. It is witnessed in embryos, where the formation of bone takes place as hyaline cartilage, which ossifies later. In adults, it is found on the tips of the ribs, on the articular surfaces of the long bones, the parts of the skull, and the rings of the trachea.

Fibrous cartilage is witnessed in the pubic symphysis and intervertebral discs and exhibits many collagen fibers.

Elastic cartilage is witnessed in the internal support of the external ear and the epiglottis and is yellow, springy, and elastic in characteristics.

High blood pressure would be a result of ________.
Fiesta28 [93]

Answer:

a high cardiac output and high peripheral resistance

Explanation:

Two factors affect the strength of the blood and consequently the blood pressure: cardiac output and peripheral resistance.

Blood pressure is determined by the product of cardiac output and peripheral vascular resistance.  In normal individuals there is a spectrum of variation in cardiac output with concomitant peripheral resistance responses for a given blood pressure level. However, increased heart rate results in increased cardiac output, which increases blood pressure, leading to hypertension.

What is kinetic energy and how is kinetic energy related to the temperature of a substance?
Jet001 [13]

Answer:

Kinetic energy is a property of a moving object or particle and depends not only on its motion but also on its mass. The temperature of gases is proportional to the average translational kinetic energy of atoms and molecules. The motion of individual molecules in a gas is random in magnitude and direction.
