Tokyo, Japan is in a timezone that is 16 hours ahead of Los Angeles (maybe it's 15 hours before Daylight Savings, so we'll go with 15 so it fits the problem c:) If you leave a flight from LA at 11:45 lasting 12 hours and 15 minutes then land in Tokyo, the time in LA will be 12:00 AM on Aug. 6. However, since there is the timezone change, the time in Tokyo when you land is 15 hours ahead. 12:00 AM + 15 hours = 5:00 PM, both on August 6.

Kendra has $6.00 in dimes and quarters. If she has 2 times as many quarters as dimes, how many of each coin does she have?

Make a system of equations.

\sf0.10d+0.25q=6
\sf~q = 2d

Plug in 2d for 'q' in the first equation:

\sf0.10d+0.25q=6

\sf0.10d+0.25(2d)=6

Multiply:

\sf0.10d+0.50d=6

Combine like terms:

\sf0.60d=6

Divide 0.60 to both sides:

\sf~d=10

Now plug this into any of the two equations to find 'q':

\sf~q = 2d

\sf~q = 2(10)

\sf~q = 20

So she has 10 dimes and 20 quarters.

A dairy wishes to mix together 1,000 pints of milk that contains 8% butterfat. if the mixture is to be made from milk containing
cricket20 [7]
We can write the question as a mathematical formula as follows:
1000 * 0.08 = m * 0.05 + c * 0.2
1000 = m + c
where m are pints of milk and c are pints of cream
So solving the first equation with m = 1000 - c
1000*0.08 = (1000-c)*0.05 + c*0.2
80 = 50 - 0.05c + 0.2c
80-50 = (0.2-0.05)*c
30 = 0.15*c
c = 30/0.15
c = 200
m = 1000-200 = 800
So the dairy needs 800 pints of milk and 200 pints of cream

astraxan [27]

Answer:

a) 4 1/10 slices eaten

b) cannot be solved because we don't know how many slices in each pizza

Step-by-step explanation:

5*1/10=5/10

12*3/10=36/10

36/10+5/10=41/10

41/10=4 1/10 slices
