Given:

The radius of inner circle = 13 yd.

The width of the shaded region = 8 yd

To find the area of the shaded region.

Now,

The radius of the outer circle = 13+8 yd = 21 yd

Formula

The area of a circle of radius r unit is \pi r^{2} sq unit.

A = A_{1}-A_{2}

where, A = The area of the shaded region

A_{1} = Area of the outer region

A_{2}= Area of the inner region

Now,

A_{1}= \pi (21^{2})

A_{1} = (3.14)(21)(21)

A_{1}= 1384.74 sq yd

And,

A_{2} = \pi (13^{2})

A_{2} = (3.14)(13)(13)

A_{2}= 530.66 sq yd

Therefore,

A = 1384.74-530.66 sq yd

A = 854.08 sq yd

Hence,

The area of the shaded region 854.08 sq yd.

Find the missing value so that the two points have a slope of -3/10 (x,-8) and (-5,-5)
rosijanka [135]

Answer:

5

Step-by-step explanation:

The slope is given by

m = (y2-y1)/(x2-x1)

-3/10 = (-5--8)/(-5-x)

-3/10 = (-5+8)/(-5-x)

Using cross multiplication

-3 (-5-x) = 10*(-5+8)

Simplify

-3(-5-x) =10(3)

Divide by -3

-3/-3(-5-x) =10(3)/-3

-5-x = -10

Add 5 to each side

-5-x+5 = -10+5

-x=-5

Divide by -1

x=5

-7 = -1 + x/3, solve and explain with an algebraic property
k0ka [10]
-7 = -1 +  \frac{x}{3}

Multiply both sides by 3 :

-3*1 + 3* \frac{x}{3}  = -3*7

Refine:

x - 3 = -21

x = - 21 + 3

x = - 18

hope this helps!.

If the graph of the function moves to the right two units what is the new vertex of the function
Allisa [31]

Answer:

Let's talk through this a one step at a time.

*Since f(x) is concave-up with its vertex on the x-axis, we know f(x) ≥ 0.

*We also know that when we shift a function's domain by a positive number, we shift the function left and when we shift a function's domain by a negative number, we shift the function right. So f(x-5) is f(x) shifted to the right by 5.

*At this point, f(x-5) has its vertex at (5,0).

*When we negate f(x-5), the parabola becomes concave down yet the vertex remains at (5,0). Now we're at -f(x-5). At this point we have -f(x-5)≤0 with a range (-∞,0]

*If we add 2 to create g(x)=2-f(x-5), then we have a concave down parabola with its vertex shifted up by 2, at (5,2). So, g(x) is concave down with its vertex at (5,2). Hence
