As it says, set up the equation
7(x - 4) = 84

the parentheses mean you multiply, so it is really
7 × (x - 4) = 84
Now, find how many people are left after the 4 people canceled84 ÷ 7 = 12
There are 12 people
Now, add the 4 people that canceled
12 + 4 = 16

Answer:

x = 16 people
There was 16 people originally going skating.

the sum of areas of two circles is 80 square meters find the lencgh of radius of each circles if one of them is twice as larger
klemol [59]
Area of a cirlce=πr²
we have two radius:2r and  r
area of the cirlce₁ + area of the circle₂=80 m²
area of the circle₁=π(2r)²
area of the circle₂=πr²
Then, we can suggest this quation:

π(2r)²+πr²=80

4πr²+πr²=80
π(4r²+r²)=80
π(5r²)=80
5πr²=80
r²=80/5π
r=√(80/5π)≈2.26

radius of the largest cirlce=2r=2(2.26)=4.51

Answer: the radius of the largest circle is 4.51 m

Describe the error.
murzikaleks [220]

Answer:

C. both A and B

Step-by-step explanation:

The student incorrectly applied the Distributive Property in Step 1 by not multiplying 8 and 7. Then they added 7 to 7 to cancel them out, but subtracted 7 from 75 instead of adding like they did on the other side of the equal sign.

Use the quadratic formula to find both solutions to the quadratic equation given below 4x^2+3x-1=0
Aneli [31]
    4x²  +  3x    -  1 = 0
a=4      b=3   c=-1

Quadratic formula:
x =\frac{-b +/-  \sqrt{b^{2} -4ac} }{2a} =  \frac{-3 +/-  \sqrt{3^{2} - 4(4)(-1)}}{2(4)}
= \frac{-3 +/-  \sqrt{9 + 16}}{8} =  \frac{-3 +/-  \sqrt{25}}{8} =  \frac{-3 +/-  5}{8}
= \frac{-3 + 5}{8} , \frac{-3 - 5}{8}
= \frac{2}{8}, \frac{-8}{8}
= \frac{1}{4}, -1
