Answer:

Phytoplanktons are single celled organisms found in aquatic ecosystems. They make their own food by capturing sunlight for photosynthesis. Example of some phytoplanktons are diatoms, dinoflagellates and cynobacteria ( blue green algae). Phytoplanktons functions as the primary producers of the aquatic ecosystem. They attain the bottom level in the energy pyramid and store certain amount of suns energy and convert it into food. The energy derive from food is transferred to higher energy levels in the energy pyramid as phytoplanktons are eaten up by many aquatic animals. Therefore, the energy transferred from phytoplankton to higher energy levels gets decreased according to 10% law which says, energy decreases 10% at each higher trophic level. So, all the energy stored by the phytoplankton will not reach the top level of the pyramid.

Enzymes in your gastrointestinal tract digest your lunch. these chemical reactions are categorized as:________
BigorU [14]

Enzymes in your gastrointestinal tract digest your lunch. these chemical reactions are categorized as catabolism.

What is catabolism?

The series of metabolic processes known as catabolism reduces molecules into smaller pieces that are then either oxidized to produce energy or utilised in other anabolic processes. Large compounds are divided into smaller components through catabolism.

What is a prime illustration of catabolism?

Catabolism happens as you are breaking down food. For instance, a piece of bread is broken down into simple components your body may absorb, such glucose, through this process (blood sugar).

What is difference between catabolism and anabolism?

The series of metabolic processes known as catabolism reduces molecules into smaller pieces that are then either oxidized to produce energy or utilised in other anabolic processes. The process of anabolism produces the molecules the body needs to function. Energy is released during the catabolism process. Energy is needed for anabolic processes.

In the United States, which direction does a continental polar air mass that forms over Canada usually move and why?
goldfiish [28.3K]

In the United States the direction the continental polar air mass move South toward the Gulf of Mexico to replace the rising maritime tropical air mass.

Answer: Option A

Explanation:

Air masses are large bodies of air moving horizontally in a very uniform way. Continental polar air mass is an air mass that forms near the poles. It originates in northern Canada and Alaska and move south then East.

The continental polar masses are the causes for the severe cold weather in the South during the cold months. Maritime tropical mass are warm and have high moisture content. During winter it comes in contact with the continental polar mass hence getting stabilized.

This type of membrane transport moves substances against the concentration gradient from an area of low concentration to an area
sashaice [31]

Answer:- Active transport

Explanation:-

There are two types of membrane transports

1. Passive transport - this type of transport occurs without the input of any energy and the molecules move along the concentration gradients that is from high concetration to low concentration.

2. Active transport- this type of transport takes place to move the molecules against the concentration gradient that is from low concentration to high concentration.

The active transport is of two types:

1. Primary active transport- in this type of transport ATP is used as an energy source to move the substances against the concentration gradient.

2.Secondary active transport - in this type of transport the gradient formed by the active transport is utilized and it involves the movement of 2 substances at a time aross the membrane. That is the movement of one molecule is coupled to another.

 • The membrane proteins that are associated with active transport are called as carrier proteins. These proteins have a binding site for the molecules that they transport. Once they bind to the specific molecules, a conformation change is induced and this leads to the transport of the molecule across the membrane.

So, the active transport is basically responsible for utilizing the energy from ATP and carrier proteins to move the substances across the membrane against their concentration gradient i.e. from low concentration to high concentration.
