Faulkner's Nobel prize acceptance speech demonstrates the artist as a patron of the human heart. He points out the young writers through his speech and urges them to see the significance of literature. He discusses the ambiguity of current literature and complaints that the young writers today have given a blow to the internal conflicts of the human heart. He feels that these conflicts can entirely turn up in good poetry or writing which is the only thing worth writing about as according to him, a good piece of art should soothe the human heart and its conflicts, contrary to mere reminiscing universal truths lacking love and compassion. He says that the writers should raise the endurance power of the human heart to lift it up from its complex state.
