During these times, the post-industrial city, for instance, can be mentioned in the creation of new administrative and commercial centers along accessible roads in the hinterland called edge cities.

These cities were often developed near airports, as many airports were developed outside of city centers but close enough to have ease of access for people coming in and coming out. Example of an edge city developed in the 1920’s was Detroit’s New Center which was located 3 miles north of City’s downtown.
