Ashley has 24 quarts of fruit punch. She is having a party at her house and wants to give each guest a cup of punch. If there is no punch left over, how many cups of punch did she give to her guests?

Bonus: If each guest got a cup, how many guests were there?

You are converting quarts (larger) to cups (smaller) because each guest at Ashley's party needs a cup of fruit punch, but the jug is measured in quarts, and nobody needs a quart of punch, that's a lot.

The answer: There are 4 cups in a quart, so 24 quarts is equal to 96 quarts. (You would multiply 24 by 4) The bonus: if each guest got a cup and there were 92 cups, there were 92 guests.

What is the inverse of the function of (x)=2^(x)+6
Elden [556K]

Answer:

Option D.

Step-by-step explanation:

To find the inversion of a function follow the following procedure

1) Replace x with y in the function and clear y

y=2^{(x)} + 6 ------>  x = 2^{(y)}+ 6

x-6 = 2^y

y = log_2(x-6)

2) Check. The range of f(x) is the domain of f^{-1}(x).

So if f(a) = b, this means that f^{-1}(b) = a.

f(2) = 2^2+ 6 = 10

f^{-1}(x) = log_2(10-6) = 2

Is fulfilled. Therefore y=log_2(x-6) is the inverse of f(x) = 2^{(x)} +6

A sundae requires 3 ice-cream scoops and 4 strawberries, and a milkshake requires 2 ice-cream scoops and 6 strawberries. Ramses
drek231 [11]

Answer:

System of inequalities:

3x+2y \leq 25 , 4x+6y \leq 37

1) Maximum number of sundaes possible = 9

2) Maximum number of milkshakes possible = 6

3) Combination that uses the most of both Ice-cream and Strawberries = 7 scoop of ice-cream and 1 scoop of strawberries.

Step-by-step explanation:

Given : A sundae requires 3 ice-cream scoops and 4 strawberries, and a milkshake requires 2 ice-cream scoops and 6 strawberries.

Ramses wants to make sundaes and milkshakes with at most 25 ice-cream scoops and 37 strawberries.

Let x denote the number of sundaes he makes and y the number of milkshakes he makes.

First we represent in tabular form,

                             Sundae(x)            Milkshake(y)           Total

Ice-cream                  3                           2                         3x+2y

Strawberries             4                            6                         4x+6y

→System of inequalities:

Sundaes and milkshake with at most 25 ice-cream scoops=  3x+2y \leq 25

Sundaes and milkshakes with at most 37 strawberries = 4x+6y \leq 37

→ Plotting the equations in the graph (figure attached)

1) Maximum number of sundaes possible:

Maximum no. of sundaes possible when y=0

From the graph y=0 at x=9.25

Therefore, Maximum number of sundaes possible is 9

2) Maximum number of milkshakes possible:

Maximum no. of milkshakes  possible when x=0

From the graph x=0 at y= 6.167

Therefore, Maximum number of milkshakes possible is 6

3) Combination that uses the most of both Ice-cream and Strawberries:

Combination of both is possible there is a intersection of both the equation

From the graph intersection point is x=7.6 and y=1.1

Therefore,  Combination that uses the most of both Ice-cream and Strawberries = 7 scoop of ice-cream and 1 scoop of strawberries.
