(y+5)^3 is the same as (y+5)(y+5)(y+5)

It is easiest to multipy out 2 of the brackets first
(y+5)(y+5)
y^2+5y+5y+25
y^2+10y+25

We then have to multiply what we just got by (y+5). I personally multiply it all by y first to get

y^3+10y^2+25y

and then multiply the first answer by 5 to get

5y^2+50y+125

then add these together for the final answer

y^3+15y^2+75y+125

This is so confusing...

It's less confusing if you only think about one of them at a time.

A).
Change the whole thing to all inches.
(Multiply the 8-ft by  12inches/foot.)
Then, when you have it all in one number of inches,
multiply that number of inches by  (2.54 centimeters/inch).

B).
1 ounce is the weight of 28.35 grams (on Earth).
Multiply the 300g by  (1 ounce / 28.35 g).

C).
Multiply the liters by (0.264 gallon/liter)
Multiply the km by (1 mile / 1.609 km).
Then you'll have a fraction that actually means
(a number of gallons) divided by (a number of miles).
Do the division, and you'll have the gallons per mile.

D).
The area of any rectangle is (length) times (width).
The area of this living room is (13-ft times 14-ft), and that's in square feet.
You know how much 1 square foot of carpet costs.
Just multiply that price by the number of square feet that you need.

A hot air balloon in flight begins to ascend at a steady rate of 120 feet per minute. After 1.5 minutes, the balloon is at an al
azamat

Answer:

The balloon will not reach 2,500 feet after 4 minutes.

Step-by-step explanation:

The equation of the line in the point-slope form is

y-y_1=m(x-x_1)

A hot air balloon in flight begins to ascend at a steady rate of 120 feet per minute, then the slope is

m=120

After x_1=1.5 minutes, the balloon is at an altitude of y_1=2,150 feet. This means, the line passes through the point (1.5, 2,150).

Substitute the slope and point coordinates into the equation:

y-2,150=120(x-1.5)

We know that after 3 minutes, the balloon is at an altitude of 2,330 feet. Check this:

2,330-2,150=180\\ \\120(3-1.5)=120\cdot 1.5=180\\ \\2,330-2,150=120(3-1.5)

Now, find the height after 4 minutes:

y-2,150=120(4-1.5)\\ \\y=120\cdot 2.5+2,150=300+2,150=2,450

Thus, the balloon will reach only 2,450 feet after 4 minutes.
