Solve this just like you would an equation. Move the 3 over to the other side by subtraction to get 2x>-10. Now divide both sides by 2 to get x>-5.  That's as simple as it gets!

Given that aₙ = (-2) (5)ⁿ⁻1 for a geometric sequence, determine the common ratio:
patriot [66]

Answer:

5

Step-by-step explanation:

The nth term of the geometric sequence is

a_n=(-2)(5)^{n-1}

In general the nth term of a geometric sequence is

a_n=a_1(r)^{n-1}

By comparism;

r=5 is the common ratio of the sequence.

Or

a_1=(-2)(5)^{1-1}=-2

a_2=(-2)(5)^{2-1}=-10

Common ratio is

r=\frac{-10}{-2}=5

Kameron's unicycle wheel has a spoke length of 16 inches.
Alexeev081 [22]

Answer:

301.44 inches

Step-by-step explanation:

The spoke is from the center of the wheel to the edge, so its length is the radius, or 16 inches.

You want to find the distance that one rotation will take you, so you need the wheel's circumference.

Circumference = 2πr

2 x 3.14 x 16 = 100.48

100.48 inches is the distance of only 1 full rotation, so you just need to multiply 100.48 by 3 to get the distance of 3 rotations.

100.48 x 3 = 301.44

f the dean wanted to estimate the proportion of all students receiving financial aid to within 3% with 99% reliability, how many
Oksanka [162]

Answer:

n=1849

Step-by-step explanation:

Previous concepts

A confidence interval is "a range of values that’s likely to include a population value with a certain degree of confidence. It is often expressed a % whereby a population means lies between an upper and lower interval".

The margin of error is the range of values below and above the sample statistic in a confidence interval.

Normal distribution, is a "probability distribution that is symmetric about the mean, showing that data near the mean are more frequent in occurrence than data far from the mean".

The population proportion have the following distribution

p \sim N(p,\sqrt{\frac{p(1-p)}{n}})

Solution to the problem

In order to find the critical value we need to take in count that we are finding the interval for a proportion, so on this case we need to use the z distribution. Since our interval is at 99% of confidence, our significance level would be given by \alpha=1-0.99=0.01 and \alpha/2 =0.005. And the critical value would be given by:

z_{\alpha/2}=-2.58, z_{1-\alpha/2}=2.58

The margin of error for the proportion interval is given by this formula:

ME=z_{\alpha/2}\sqrt{\frac{\hat p (1-\hat p)}{n}}    (a)

And on this case we have that ME =\pm 0.03 and we are interested in order to find the value of n, if we solve n from equation (a) we got:

n=\frac{\hat p (1-\hat p)}{(\frac{ME}{z})^2}   (b)

Assuming that the proportion is estimated \hat p =0.5. And replacing into equation (b) the values from part a we got:

n=\frac{0.5(1-0.5)}{(\frac{0.03}{2.58})^2}=1849

And rounded up we have that n=1849

How many solutions can be found for the equation 3x − 2 = 3x + 5?
aksik [14]

Answer:

Zero

Step-by-step explanation:

there is no solution the sides are uneven. if you solve for it 3x and 3x cancels out each other leaving you with -2=5
