The answer is:  "No;  they are not parallel."
<span>____________________________________________</span>
Explanation:
_____________________________________________
Given:

<span>y = 6x + 9 ;  AND

27x - 3y = -81 ;
__________________
We need to rewrite:
__________________</span>
" 27x - 3y = -81" ; in "slope-intercept form"; that is:
                                       " y = mx + b" ; and see if the "slope, "m" ;  is the same                                                    as:  "y = 6x + 9" ;  or "6";
 (that is, whether "m = 6";  when an equation is written is "slope-intercept form",  the slope, "m", is the coefficient of "x";  and we are given an equation that is already written in:  "slope-intercept form":
__________________________________
" y = 6x + 9 " ;  in which, the slope, "m", = "6".
___________________________________
If  we can write the other equation given:
__________________________________
" 27x - 3y = -81 " ; in "slope-intercept form"; and "m = 6"; (the same slope), then both equations are "parallel" to each other.
_________________________________________
Given:
______
 27x - 3y = -81 ;
_____________________
 Let us write this in "slope-intercept form" ;
_____________________________________
Let us multiply the ENTIRE equation (both sides) by "-1"; to get rid of most of the 'negatives' :
________________________________
 -1* {27x - 3y = -81} ;
__________________________
 to get:
______________________________
     -27x + 3y = 81 ;
______________________________
Now, add "27x" to EACH SIDE of the equation:
___________________________________
        -27x + 3y + 27x = 81 + 27x ;
_____________________________________
 to get:  3y = 81 + 27x ;  ↔  3y = 27x + 81;
_______________________________________
Now, divide the ENTIRE EQUATION (both sides) by "3"; to isolate "y" on the left-hand side of the equation; and to re-write the equation in "slope-intercept form:
______________________________________________________
     3y / 3 = (27x + 81) / 3 ;
 ________________________
              y = 9x + 27 ;
_________________________
   So, y = mx + b ;  m = "9"; which is not "6" ;
____________________________________
So the answer is:  "No; they are not parallel."

No.  The equations can be solved for x and y and so they are not parallel.
x = -6  y= -27

Why does a horizontal line have a slope of 0, but a vertical line has anundened slope?
aleksley [76]
<span>The slope of a line is defined as the rate of change on the vertical axis, divided by the rate of change on the horizontal axis, Δy/Δx. So for a horizontal line, the rate of change on the y axis is zero, this means that it's slope will be 0/Δx and for vertical line, x-axis does not change, which make the denominator 0 Δy/0.</span>

What value(s) of x will make x to the 2nd power =9 true
Anastaziya [24]

Answer:

x = 3 , X = -3

In x 2 = 9 , you need to get rid of the power of 2 in order to isolate just x This involves finding the square root. √ x 2 = x However there are 2 possible answers to a square root, a positive or a negative answer. x = ± √ 9 x = ± 3

Harley is riding her bicycle 9.88 miles from her house to work. If she rides at a speed of 13 miles per hour, how long will it t
PIT_PIT [208]

It would take Harley 46 minutes to arrive at work.

Step-by-step explanation:

Given,

Distance from house to work = 9.88 miles

Speed of bicycle = 13 mph

Distance = Speed*Time

Time = \frac{Distance}{Speed}

Time = \frac{9.88}{13}

Time = 0.76 hour

We know that 1 hour = 60 minutes

0.7 hours = 60*0.76

0.7 hours = 45.6 minutes

Rounding off to nearest whole minute

0.7 hour = 46 minutes

It would take Harley 46 minutes to arrive at work.
