Y = -5/4x + 1.....the slope here is -5/4. A perpendicular line will have a negative reciprocal slope. All that means is " flip " the slope and change the sign, resulting in 4/5 (u see how I flipped -5/4 and turned it into 4/5...I then changed the sign and made it 4/5)

y = mx + b
slope(m) = 4/5 ....we are using the negative reciprocal here
(2,6)...x = 2 and y = 6
now we sub and find b, the y int
6 = 4/5(2) + b
6 = 8/5 + b
6 - 8/5 = b
30/5 - 8/5 = b
22/5 = b

so ur perpendicular equation is : y = 4/5x + 22/5

Jane must get at least three of the four problems on the exam correct to get an A. She has been able to do 80% of the problems o
NISA [10]

Answer:

a) There is n 81.92% probability that she gets an A.

b) If she gets the first problem correct, there is an 89.6% probability that she gets an A.

Step-by-step explanation:

For each question, there are only two possible outcomes. Either the answer is correct, or it is not. This means that we can solve this problem using binomial distribution probability concepts.

Binomial probability distribution

The binomial probability is the probability of exactly x successes on n repeated trials, and X can only have two outcomes.

P(X = x) = C_{n,x}.\pi^{x}.(1-\pi)^{n-x}

In which C_{n,x} is the number of different combinatios of x objects from a set of n elements, given by the following formula.

C_{n,x} = \frac{n!}{x!(n-x)!}

And \pi is the probability of X happening.

For this problem, we have that:

The probability she gets any problem correct is 0.8, so \pi = 0.8.

(a) What is the probability she gets an A?

There are four problems, so n = 4

Jane must get at least three of the four problems on the exam correct to get an A.

So, we need to find P(X \geq 3)

P(X \geq 3) = P(X = 3) + P(X = 4)

P(X = x) = C_{n,x}.\pi^{x}.(1-\pi)^{n-x}

P(X = 3) = C_{4,3}.(0.80)^{3}.(0.2)^{1} = 0.4096

P(X = 4) = C_{4,4}.(0.80)^{4}.(0.2)^{0} = 0.4096

P(X \geq 3) = P(X = 3) + P(X = 4) = 2*0.4096 = 0.8192

There is n 81.92% probability that she gets an A.

(b) If she gets the first problem correct, what is the probability she gets an A?

Now, there are only 3 problems left, so n = 3

To get an A, she must get at least 2 of them right, since one(the first one) she has already got it correct.

So, we need to find P(X \geq 2)

P(X \geq 3) = P(X = 2) + P(X = 3)

P(X = 2) = C_{3,2}.(0.80)^{2}.(0.2)^{1} = 0.384

P(X = 4) = C_{3,3}.(0.80)^{3}.(0.2)^{0} = 0.512

P(X \geq 3) = P(X = 2) + P(X = 3) = 0.384 + 0.512 = 0.896

If she gets the first problem correct, there is an 89.6% probability that she gets an A.

A 1.50 liter sample of dry air in a cylinder exerts a pressure of 3.00 atmospheres at a temperature of 25oC. Without change in t
cricket20 [7]
The answer is 4.5 l

To calculate this, we will use the Boyle's law using constant k, pressure P, and volume V:

 PV = k

We can forget temperature since it is constant.

We have:

P1V1 = k

P2V2 = k

So, P1V1 = P2V2

P1 = 3 atm

V1 = 1.5 l

P2 = 1 atm

V2 = ?

_____

P1V1 = P2V2

3 atm * 1.5 l = 1 atm * V2

4.5 atm/l = 1 atm * V2

V2 = 4.5 atm l / 1 atm

V2 = 4.5 l

Equation: -5 3/4- 3 1/2 Please help meh.
vampirchik [111]

Answer:

-9\frac{1}{4}

Step-by-step explanation:

-5\frac{3}{4}-3\frac{1}{2}

Step 1: Factor out the common term -1

=-\left(5\frac{3}{4}+3\frac{1}{2}\right)

Step 2: Add the whole numbers

5 + 3 = 8

Step 3: Combine the fractions:

\frac{3}{4}+\frac{1}{2} = \frac{5}{4}\\\\=-\left(8+\frac{5}{4}\right)

Step 4: Convert the improper fractions to mixed numbers

\frac{5}{4} = 1\frac{1}{4}\\\\=-\left(8+1\frac{1}{4}\right)

Step 5: Add the numbers

8 + 1 =9 \\\\=-9\frac{1}{4}

Therefore, the answer to the equation is -9\frac{1}{4} in fraction, and decimal; 9.25
