Which energy changes are associated with a liquid freezing?

Chemistry

Answer: Option (a) is the correct answer.

Explanation:

When water is in liquid state then its molecules are less tightly held together. Due to this the molecules have kinetic energy and they are slightly far away from each other.

But when water freezes then molecules come more closer to each other. So, there occurs decrease in kinetic energy and increase in potential energy. Also during freezing, molecules release excess of energy so that they can come closer to each other.

Thus, we can conclude that energy changes that are associated with a liquid freezing is that energy is released as potential energy increases.

Why are significant figures rules for calculations more important in science than in math class?
inysia [295]

Answer:

Which has the greater volume 10g of hexane or 10 grams of toluene? what is the volume of each?
maks197457 [2]
10 g of hexane has a greater volume than 10 g of toluene. volume of hexane = 15.27 mL volume of toluene = 11.53 mL First, look up the density of hexane and toluene. hexane = 0.6548 g/mL toluene = 0.867 g/mL Since hexane has the lower density, the same mass of hexane will have a higher volume than the same mass of toluene. No need for you to actually calculate the volume for the first part of the question. However, the 2nd part of the question does require you to calculate the volume. That is a simple matter of division. volume of hexane = 10 g / 0.6548 g/mL = 15.27 mL volume of toluene = 10 g / 0.867 g/mL = 11.53 mL

Which explains how the moon causes low tides on the earth?
Reil [10]

The moon exerts pull on the earth. The pull stretches the earth's watery envelope and creates tidal bulges. Where the water is thinnest is low tide. The answer is letter A. Moon tides or lunar tides are caused by the pull of gravity between the moon and earth. The moon will exert a gravitational pull on earth and the earth also pulls the moon towards itself. The results is that the moon is near the earth and formation of oceans tide. Even though the earth can hold any object within its proximity, the ocean is partly attracted due to its liquid property. At night, the ocean tends to be attracted to the moon by creating a bulge and assigning it as ‘high tide’. This is due to the strong gravitational pull of the moon to the earth.
