A company that makes cola drinks states that the mean caffeine content per 12-ounce bottle of cola is 40 milligrams. You want t

o test this claim. During your tests, you find that a random sample of thirty 12-ounce bottles of cola has a mean caffeine content of 42.3 milligrams. Assume the population is normally distributed and the population standard deviation is 7.1 milligrams. At alphaequals0.04, can you reject the company's claim

Answer:

Step-by-step explanation:

Put hypotheses as:

H_0: mu =40 mg\\H_a: mu \neq 40 mg.

(Two tailed test at 4%)

Since population std deviation is  given we can do Z test.

Sample size n =30\\Sample mean = 42.3 mg\\Mean diff = 2.3 mg\\Std error of sample = \frac{7.1}{\sqrt{30} } =1.296

Test statistic t = mean diff/se = \frac{2.3}{1.296} =1.775

p value=0.075

Since p >0.04 our alpha, we accept null hypothesis.

At alphaequals0.04, we cannot reject the company's claim

Which of the following is equivalent to square root of 8?
arlik [135]

Answer:

\sqrt{8} =\sqrt{4*2} =2\sqrt{2}

Step-by-step explanation:

The expression \sqrt{8} is a radical. To simplify pull out any perfect square factors.

\sqrt{8} =\sqrt{4*2} =2\sqrt{2}

Each of these expressions is equivalent.

Couldn't you use the law of cosines to find one angle and use the law of sines to find the rest
steposvetlana [31]
Correct. In the case where you are given enough information to use the law of cosines you could in fact then use the law of sines afterwards to find your remaining angle. That being said beware of solutions that don't make a feasible triangle (if you were using the law of cosines you only have one angle, so that means whatever your second angle is that you found using the law of sines can't make your sum go over 180, because you still need some angle left for the last angle).

Note that no diagram is drawn to scale.

If the diagram in the first picture is further worked upon, we have polygon ABCDE.

Note also that line AD = 18in and line MD = 10in.
This simply means the line Am = AD - MD = 8in.

We have the height of the triangle needed to solve for the area of the triangle. Area of Triangle = 1/2×b×h
Where b is length base of the triangle and h is the length of height of the triangle.
We still need b to find the Area.

Note also that two opposite sides of parallelograms are equal. This implies that line DC = line EB which is equal to 14in.
In the third image, you can see this. Half the length of the side of the parallelogram is needed. This means 14/2 = 7in.

We can now solve for the Area of the triangle.
Area =  \frac{1}{2} (b \times h)
Area =  \frac{1}{2} (7 \times 8)
Area = 28
We have the are of the triangle to be 28in. Multiply this by 3 to find the total area of all three triangles since the three triangles are identical. Thus,
Total Area of all Triangles = 28×3 = 76in

Now, find the area of the two parallelograms.
Area of parallelogram EBCD = bh

Where b is the length of the base side and h is the height.
Hence from the diagram,
Area = 14 \times 10 \\ Area = 140
Area of parallelogram EBCD is 140in.

Total Area of both Parallelograms will be 140 ×2= 280in since both are identical.

To find the Total Area of the tile pattern add the area of the triangles and the Parallelograms. This is 76 + 280 =356in.

Your answer is 356in.
