in a high school the ratio of make to female is 8:5, when 400 senior males are removed and 300 senior females are removed, the r
Gnoma [55]
Male to female is 8:5

So

Let's make male = 8x

female = 5x

8x-400/5x-300=8/3
The 8/3 is because that is what the ratio was after some of the students left

multiply by 5x-300 on both sides

8x-400=(5x-300)*(8/3)

multiply by 3 on both sides to remove the denominator

(8x-400)*3=(5x-300)*8

24x-1200=40x-2400

+2400        +2400

24x+1200=40x
-24x             -24x

1200=16x

divide by 16

1200/16=16x/16

75=x

Now to find total we do 8x+5x we said male were 8x and female were 5x

8(75)+5(75)

600+375=975 total students

Please help on 2, 3, and 4.
Nadya [2.5K]

2. $350

3a: 15 is half of 30, so knowing that means the answer is 50%

3b. 3 is 1/4 of 12 because 3x4 is 12, meaning that 3 is 25% of 12.

3c. 6 over 10 as a decimal is 0.6. Which as a percent is 60%

4. Noah's method does work because 20% x 5 is equal to 100% of a number.

What will be the coordinates of the image after a translation up 4 units and right 6 units
FrozenT [24]

Answer:

B

Step-by-step explanation:

To find the answer, translate each point and then use the process of elimination.

For the first point, the coordinates are (-4, -2). The -4 is x and the -2 is y. Translations up and down relate to the y value, while translations left and right relate to x. To translate up 4 units, add 4 to the y value of the coordinate. -2 + 4 is 2, so the y coordinate of the first point will be 2. That eliminated A and D.

For the second point, translate up 4 units (-5 + 4) and you get -1. So the y value of the second point will be -1. In option C, it is positive 1. So that leaves only B.

A football team lost 5 yards on each of 3 plays. Explain how you could use a number line to find the teams change in field posit
uysha [10]
You would start out at in the middle of a number line (horizontal). After the first play, you would move to the left on the line 5 spots (to simulate 5 yards lost) and then make a dot to show your new position. You would do the same thing for the next two plays, moving 5 spots to the left each play and creating a new starting point each time. The total spots moved after the 3 plays is 15 spots to the left.
