A farm has 15 rows of fruit trees with 7 trees in each row. The last 4 rows of trees are cherry trees. The remaining trees are o
siniylev [52]

Answer:

Total number of orange trees = 77 trees

Step-by-step explanation:

Given:

Total number of rows = 15

Total number of cherry rows = 4

Number of trees in each rows = 7

Find:

Total number of orange trees

Computation:

Total number of orange trees = [Total number of rows - Total number of cherry rows][Number of trees in each rows]

Total number of orange trees = [15 - 4]7

Total number of orange trees = [11]7

Total number of orange trees = 77 trees

The perimeter of a rectangular field is 60 meters. Its area is 200 square meters. Find its dimensions.
Vanyuwa [196]

Answer:

20 m by 10 m

Step-by-step explanation:

let w be width and l be length , then

2(l + w) = 60 ( divide both sides by 2 )

l + w = 30 ( subtract w from both sides )

l = 30 - w → (1)

lw = 200 → (2)

Substitute l = 30 - w into (2)

w(30 - w) = 200 ← distribute parenthesis on left side

30w - w² = 200 ( subtract 200 from both sides )

30w - w² - 200 = 0 ( multiply through by - 1 )

w² - 30w + 200 = 0 ← in standard form

(w - 10)(w - 20) = 0 ← in factored form

Equate each factor to zero and solve for w

w - 10 = 0 ⇒ w = 10

w - 20 = 0 ⇒ w = 20

Substitute these values into (1)

l = 30 - 10 = 20

l = 30 - 20 = 10

dimensions of field is 20 m by 10 m

Are triangles DEF and LNM similar if DF = 8 and LM = 4?
Komok [63]

We Cannot conclude that triangles DEF and LNM are similar if DF = 8 and LM = 4.

<u>Solution:</u>

Given that for two triangle DEF and LNM, DE = 8 and LM = 4.

To say that two triangles are similar the provided information is not complete.

Two triangles DEF and LNM , will be similar if there corresponding sides are in ratio which means

\frac{\mathrm{DE}}{\mathrm{LM}}=\frac{\mathrm{EF}}{\mathrm{NM}}=\frac{\mathrm{EF}}{\mathrm{NM}}

But we have only information of  \frac{\mathrm{DE}}{\mathrm{LM}}=\frac{8}{4}=2

But do not have any information regarding two remaining ratios that are  \frac{\mathrm{EF}}{\mathrm{NM}} \text { and } \frac{\mathrm{EF}}{\mathrm{NM}}

Hence cannot conclude that triangles DEF and LNM similar if DF = 8 and LM = 4
