It is because the space between particles decreases but also looses energy at the same time.

Answer:

The spacing between particles increases.

Explanation:

Solids is the state of matter in which the atoms of the matter are closely packed by the strong forces.

When solid is converted to liquid, these force has to be broken in order for the conversion to take place.

Thus, on heating the molecules gain energy and posses kinetic energy and start vibrating and moving. This energy overcome the forces of attraction and the spacing of the atoms decreases and turns into liquid.

What type of reaction is shown below?
natima [27]
An exothermic reaction is a type of chemical reaction in which energy is released to the environment in form of heat or light. Endothermic reaction in the other hand is a chemical reaction where energy is taken from the surroundings and thus the surroundings end up with less energy than they started with. In this case; the above reaction is an Exothermic reaction (heat is being released to the surroundings).

A sample of basalt has smaller crystals than a sample of granite. What is the most likely reason for this?
posledela
The most likely reason is that basalt is an extrusive rock, while granite is an intrusive rock. What this means is that basalt forms at the surface of the earth, where temperatures are cooler. Because of the cooler external temperature, basalt cools relatively quickly, and there isn't as much time for mineral crystals within the rock to align to form larger crystals while the rock is cooling. Granite, on the other hand, forms below the surface of the earth, where temperatures are significantly higher. Therefore, it doesn't cool as quickly, and the minerals within granite have more time to form larger crystals and the rock cools.

Identify the limiting and excess reactants when 1.00 g of zinc reacts with 150 mL of 0.250M Pb(NO3)2. How many grams of lead are
Marysya12 [62]
The reaction equation is:
Zn + Pb(NO₃)₂ → Pb + Zn(NO₃)₂

The moles of lead are calculated using:
moles = concentration x volume
moles = 0.25 x 0.15
moles = 0.0375

The moles of zinc are: 1 / 65 = 0.015

We see from the equation that equimolar quantities of zinc and lead should be present. Therefore, lead is in excess and zinc is the limiting reactant.

Will an object with a net force of zero acting on it move? Explain why or why not
Vesnalui [34]

Answer:

If the object was already moving, then it will just keep moving. So, yes, the object can be moving when there is no force applied to it. Note: "force" in this discussion is to be interpreted as net force. Net force is the vector sum of all forces acting on the object.
