1) expand

-2+16=x+28

2) add 2x to both sides

16=x+28+2x

3) simplify x+28+2x to 3x+28

16=3x+28

4) subtract 28 from both sides

16-28=3x

5) simplify 16-28 to -12

-12=3x

6) divide both sides by 3

-12/3=x

7) simplify 12/3 to 4

-4=x

8) switch sides

x=-4

Line segment EF is shown on a coordinate grid:
VikaD [51]
The answer would be A.

It is reflected across the x-axis means that point E' will be at (-3, -2) and point F' would be at (-1,-2)

the length of the line would be the same regardless of anyway you translate, rotate, or reflect it. Only if you dilate it, then an object's size can change.

Hope that helps :)

Show that 5 2/3 - 3 4/5 = 1 13/15
topjm [15]

Answer:

True both are 28/15

Step-by-step explanation:

Simplify the following:

5 + 2/3 - (3 + 4/5)

Put 3 + 4/5 over the common denominator 5. 3 + 4/5 = (5×3)/5 + 4/5:

5 + 2/3 - (5×3)/5 + 4/5

5×3 = 15:

5 + 2/3 - (15/5 + 4/5)

15/5 + 4/5 = (15 + 4)/5:

5 + 2/3 - (15 + 4)/5

15 + 4 = 19:

5 + 2/3 - 19/5

Put 5 + 2/3 - 19/5 over the common denominator 15. 5 + 2/3 - 19/5 = (15×5)/15 + (5×2)/15 + (3 (-19))/15:

(15×5)/15 + (5×2)/15 + (3 (-19))/15

15×5 = 75:

75/15 + (5×2)/15 + (3 (-19))/15

5×2 = 10:

75/15 + 10/15 + (3 (-19))/15

3 (-19) = -57:

75/15 + 10/15 + (-57)/15

75/15 + 10/15 - 57/15 = (75 + 10 - 57)/15:

(75 + 10 - 57)/15

| 7 | 5

+ | 1 | 0

| 8 | 5:

(85 - 57)/15

Answer: 28/15

Simplify the following:

1 + 13/15

Put 1 + 13/15 over the common denominator 15. 1 + 13/15 = 15/15 + 13/15:

15/15 + 13/15

15/15 + 13/15 = (15 + 13)/15:

(15 + 13)/15
