\sqrt{b+3}=a

b = (a - 3)²

Our aim is to get <u><em>a</em></u> to be alone

1) First we get rid of what's in the brackets. So we subtracts each side by 3. Of course, the opposite of subtracting is adding:

b+3 = a²

2) Now we get rid of the squared in a. Opposite of squaring is square rooting.

\sqrt{b+3} =a

3) There we have it. a is now by itself. We can test if we're right by substituting.

Lets make a=2

b=(a-3)²

b= (2-3)²

b= 1

NOW:

\sqrt{b+3} =a

\sqrt{1+3} =2

Noelle and karina both leave the Internet cafe at the same time, but in opposite directions. If karina travels 9 mph faster than
Vesna [10]
Noelle goes east at N mph.
Karina travels west at N + 9
then their velocity between them is (N + N + 9)
After 8 hours they travel 8(2N + 9) = 232
(2N + 9) = 29
2N = 20
N = 10 mph for Noelle
N+9=19 mph for Karina

How to find the square root of complex numbers?? Find the square root of (6+8i) ??
ivann1987 [24]

Answer:

2 \sqrt{2}  + i \sqrt{2}

Step-by-step explanation:

The square of a complex number is a complex number. Here, we have:

{(a + bi)}^{2}  = 6 + 8i

{a}^{2}  + 2abi -  {b}^{2}  = 6  + 8i

We then have this system of equations:

{a}^{2}  -  {b}^{2}  = 6

2ab = 8

Solving this system:

ab = 4

b =  \frac{4}{a}

{a}^{2}  -  {( \frac{4}{a}) }^{2} = 6

{a}^{2}  -  \frac{16}{ {a}^{2} } = 6

{a}^{4}  - 16 =  6{a}^{2}

{a}^{4}  - 6 {a}^{2}  - 16 = 0

( {a}^{2}  - 8)( {a}^{2}  + 2) = 0

{a}^{2}   = 8

a = 2 \sqrt{2}

b =  \frac{4}{2 \sqrt{2} } =  \sqrt{2}

At the local college, a study found that students earned an average of 14.8 credit hours per semester. A sample of 94 students w
ozzi

Answer:

By the Central Limit Theorem, the best point estimate for the average number of credit hours per semester for all students at the local college is 14.8.

Step-by-step explanation:

The Central Limit Theorem estabilishes that, for a normally distributed random variable X, with mean \mu and standard deviation \sigma, the sampling distribution of the sample means with size n can be approximated to a normal distribution with mean \mu and standard deviation s = \frac{\sigma}{\sqrt{n}}.

For a skewed variable, the Central Limit Theorem can also be applied, as long as n is at least 30.

Mean of the sample:

14.8 credit hours per semester.

So

By the Central Limit Theorem, the best point estimate for the average number of credit hours per semester for all students at the local college is 14.8.
