How to compare fractions with different denominators?

To compare fractions with different denominators, you simply make both of them have the same denominator.

Pretend like you are going to add the fractions together.

To add them, they must have the same denominator.

For example :

1/2 + 3/4

You must multiply 1/2 by 2/2 because 2 goes into 4 2 times. So, in order to get 4 as both denominators, you must see how many times both denominators go into that denominator :)

1/2 × 2/2 = 2/4

So, 2/4 is the new fraction.

Although it looks different from 1/2, the are equal with one another :)

After both of the fractions have the same denominator, you look at the numerator (top number) and see which one is larger :)

How do I solve this problem?
Lilit [14]

Answer:

The diagonal is 14sqrt(2) ft

Step-by-step explanation:

The area of a square is given by

A =s^2 where s is the side length

196 = s^2

Take the square root of each side

sqrt(196) =sqrt(s^2)

14 = s

The side length is 14 ft

Now we can use the Pythagorean theorem to find the length of the diagonal

a^2 + b^2 = c^2

The side lengths of the triangle are s = 14, and the diagonal is the hypotenuse

14^2 + 14^2 = c^2

196+196 = c^2

392 = c^2

Take the square root of each side

sqrt(392) = sqrt(c^2)

sqrt(196 *2) = c

We can separate this into two pieces sqrt(ab) = sqrt(a) sqrt(b)

sqrt(196)sqrt(2) =c

14sqrt(2) = c

The diagonal is 14sqrt(2) ft

In a plane, line b is parallel to line f, line f is parallel to line g, and line h is perpendicular to line b.
ehidna [41]

The statement that cannot be true is that g cannot be parallel to h (g ║h)

How to know parallel lines in a plane?

On the plane ,

line b is parallel to line f.

Therefore,

b ║ f

line f is parallel to line g,

Therefore,

f ║ g

line h is perpendicular to line b.

h ⊥ b

Therefore,

Since line h is perpendicular b, line b is perpendicular to h.

b can be parallel to g on the plane.

g cannot be parallel to h because h is perpendicular to b.

h can be perpendicular to f because b is parallel to f.
