Answer:

a) U(x)=30x^2 +6x^3

b) v1=7.9 m/s

Explanation:

a) the potential energy function is equal to:

U(x)=-\int\limits^ {}F(x) \, dx =\alpha (\frac{x^{2} }{2})+\beta  (\frac{x^{3} }{3})+c

when U(x)=0 and x=0

U(x)=\alpha (0)+\beta (0)+c

c=0

substituting the values we have to:

U(x)=60*(\frac{x^{2} }{2})+18*(\frac{x^{3} }{3})+0=30x^{2} +6x^{3}

b) the speed of the object is equal to:

Ek_{1}+U_{1}=Ek_{2}+U_{2}

\frac{1}{2}mv1^{2}+30x^{2} _{1}+6x^{3} _{1}=0+30x^{2} _{2}+6x^{3} _{2}

if x1=1 m, x2=0.5 m and m=0.9 kg

\frac{1}{2}+30*0.5^{2}+6*0.5^{2}=30*1^{2}+6*1^{2}

0.45v1^{2}+8.25=3.6

Clearing v1:

v1=7.9 m/s

Answer:

a)U( x)=30x^²+6x^³

b)V₂=7.85m/s

Explanation:

(a)CALCULATING THE POTENTIAL ENERGY

recall law of conservation of matter which states

K+U= K+U...................................................equ.(*)

where K₁ is the initial kinetic energy

U₁ is the initial potential energy

but Kinetic Energy (K=¹/₂mv²)......................equ.(**)

restoring force formular F(x)= -60x-18x²

getting the derivatives of the conservative force,

then F(x)= -du(x)/dx

du(x)= -F(x)dx

introducing the integral sign, by integrating

U(x)= -∫(-60x-18x²)dx + U(0)

integrating

∴ U(x)= 30x²+6x³ + U(0)......................eqn. (a)

when U=0 at x=0 substituting in equation ( a)

then

=30x² ⁺6x³ + U(0).................................eqn. (b)

when x₁= 1m v₁=0

x₂=0.5m v₂= unknown

substituting x₁= 1m and v₁=0 into eqn (b)

U₁= 30(1)² + 6(1)³= 36J

substituting x₁= 0.5m and v₁=0 into eqn (b)

U₂=30(0.5)²+6(0.5)³=8.25J

(b) CALCULATING THE SPEED OF THE OBJECT

from equ. (*) when the object is from rest i.e k₁=0

0+36 = k₂ +8.25

making k₂ subject of formular

k₂=27.75J

then when m= 0.90kg, k₂=27.75 substitute into equ. (**)

27.75=¹/₂(0.90)v²₂

v₂=7.85m/s

Consider the electronic elements that are cooled by forced convection in Problem 6.31. The cooling system is designed and tested
Stella [2.4K]

Answer:

surface temperature of the chip located 120 mm Ts=42.5°C

surface temperature of the chip in Mexico Ts=46.9°C

Explanation:

from the energy balance equation we have to:

q=E=30W

from Newton´s law:

Ts=Tα+(q/(h*A)), where A=l^2

N=h/k=0.04*(Vl/V)^0.85*Pr^1/3

data given:

l=0.12 m

v=10 m/s

k=0.0269 W/(m*K)

Pr=0.703

Replacing:

h=0.04*(0.0269/0.12)*(10*0.12)/((16*69x10^-6))^0.85*(0.703^1/3) = 107 W/m^2*K

The surface temperature at sea level is equal to:

Ts=25+(30x10^-3/107*0.004^2)=42.5°C

h=0.04*(0.0269/0.12)*((10*0.12)/(21*81x10^-6))^0.85*(0.705^1/3)=85.32 W/(m*K)

the surface temperature at Mexico City is equal to:

Ts=25+(30x10^-3/85.32*0.004^2)=46.9°C

A tangential force of 1500 N exerted upon the upper surface of a cube of 20 cm edge. Calulate the shear modulus of the cube mata
I am Lyosha [343]

<u>Answer:</u>

<em>The shear modulus of the cube material is  7.5 \times 10^6  N/m^2. </em>

<u>Explanation:</u>

<em>Given that shearing force applied F = 1500 N  </em>

<em>Displacement produced x = 0.1 cm=0.001 m  </em>

<em>side of the cube =20 cm = 0.2 m </em>

Since the object is a cube the upper surface is  a square and it is on this surface the shearing

force is applied

<em>area of the upper surface A=a \times a=(20 \times 10^(^-^2^))^2=400 \times 10^(^-^4^) m</em>

<em>shear strain = tan⁡ θ = \frac {x}{h} = \frac {0.001}{0.2} =0.005   </em>

<em>shearing stress = \frac {F}{A} = \frac{1500}{0.04} = 37500 N </em>

<em>modulus of rigidity η = \frac{(shearing \ stress)}{(shearing \  strain)}</em>

<em>= \frac{37500}{0.005}=7.5 \times 10^6  N/m^2</em>

As a ball is released from 10ft above the ground, it falls freely (without friction)
Masteriza [31]

Answer:

Explanation:

The formula to find Potential Energy is PE = mgh, where m is the mass of the object, g is gravity, and h is the height from which the object can potentially fall. Because this is linear, then PE will increase as either the mass or the height increase (gravity is constant at 9.8 m/s/s). If the mass of the ball being dropped doesn't change, then the only thing that determines this ball's max PE is the height from which it is dropped; max PE ALWAYS occurs at the highest point from which an object can potentially fall. So your answer is "At the top".

The Magnetic Dipole Moment of a Coil Problem A rectangular coil of dimensions 5.40 cm ✕ 8.50 cm consists of 25 turns of wire and
butalik [34]

Answer:

a

 \mu =  0.0023 \ A\cdot m^2

b

\tau  =    0.00080  \  N \cdot  m

Explanation:

From the question we are told that

  The dimensions of the  rectangular coil is 5.40 cm ✕ 8.50 cm  = 0.054 m X 0.085 m

   The  number of turns is  N = 25 \ turns

   The current it  is carrying is  I = 20 \ mA  = 0.02 \  A

    The magnetic field is B = 0.350 \   T

Generally the magnitude of the magnetic dipole moment is mathematically represented as

       \mu = N  *  I *  A

Here  A  is the area which is mathematically represented as

     A =  0.054  * 0.085

=>  A =  0.00459 \  m^2

So

     \mu = 25  * 0.02 *  0.00459

=>  \mu =  0.0023 \ A\cdot m^2

Generally the  magnitude of the torque acting on the loop is mathematically represented as

    \tau  =  \mu * B

=>\tau  =    0.0023  * 0.350

=>\tau  =    0.00080  \  N \cdot  m

Why is the time needed to vaporize the sample of water significantly greater than the time needed to melt the sample? A)Signific
photoshop1234 [79]

Answer:

D) Significantly more energy is required to vaporize water because the intermolecular forces between molecules are being completely broken.

Explanation:

Different states of matter differ because of intermolecular distance between them . Molecules are closest in solid state and farthest in gaseous state . To separate them energy is needed . When matter changes state from liquid to gas , the distance between the molecule increases enormously . Hence energy requirement too is large . When matter changes state from solid to liquid , their mutual separation does not increase much so energy requirement too is lesser. Moreover there is tremendous increase in their volume in gaseous state due to which gas has to do work against external pressure which requires much energy.
