Ok so their are 36 people that didn't need gel for there hair. so when you multiply 36 x 5 (because each cut costs 5 bucks) you get an answer of 180. so hold on to that and since their are 16 people that asked for gel you would need to first multiply 5 and 10% which gives you 0.5 so when you multiply 5.5 (because when you multiplied the 10% with the 5 you should get .5) times 16 you should get an answer of 88. when you add 180 with 88 you get an answer of 268. Ur welcome couuld u mark this brainlist plzzzzz

Find the absolute maximum and minimum values of f on the set D. f(x,y)=2x^3+y^4, D={(x,y) | x^2+y^2<=1}.
castortr0y [4]

Answer:

absolute maximum is f(1, 0) = 2 and the absolute minimum is f(−1, 0) = −2.

Step-by-step explanation:

We compute,

$ f_x = 6x^2, f_y=4y^3 $

Hence, $ f_x = f_y = 0 $  if and only if (x,y) = (0,0)

This is unique critical point of D. The boundary equation is given by

$ x^2+y^2=1$

Hence, the top half of the boundary is,

$ T = \{ x, \sqrt{1-x^2} : -1 \leq x \leq 1\}

On T we have, $ f(x, \sqrt{1-x^2} = 2x^3 +(1-x^2)^2 = x^4 +2x^3-2x^2+1  \text{ for}\ -1 \leq x \leq 1$

We compute

$ \frac{d}{dx}(f(x, \sqrt{1-x^2}))= 4x^3+6x^2-4x = 2x(2x^2+3x-2)=2x(2x-1)(x+2)=0$

0 if and  only if x=0, x= 1/2 or x = -2.

We disregard  $ x = -2 \notin [-1,1]$

Hence, the critical points on T are (0,1) and $(\frac{1}{2}, \sqrt{1-(\frac{1}{2})^2}=\frac{\sqrt3}{2})$

On the bottom half, B, we have

$ f(x, \sqrt{1-x^2})= f(x,-\sqrt{1-x^2})$

Therefore, the critical points on B are (0,-1) and $( 1/2, -\sqrt3/2)

It remains to  evaluate f(x, y) at the points $ (0,0), (0 \pm1), (1/2, \pm \sqrt3/2) \text{ and}\  (\pm1, 0)$ .

We should consider  latter two points, $(\pm1,0)$, since they are the boundary points for the T and also  B. We compute $ f(0,0)=0, \ \f(0 \pm1)=1, \ \ f(0, \pm \sqrt3/2)=9/16, \ \ f(1,0 )= 2 \text{ and}\ \ f(-1,0)= -2 $

We conclude that the  absolute maximum = f(1, 0) = 2

And the absolute minimum = f(−1, 0) = −2.

Which rate had the same unit rate as 300 words in 4 minutes? Circle all correct answers
rjkz [21]

Answer:

B) 450 words in 6 minutes

Step-by-step explanation:

450 divided by 6 is equal to 75 which makes 75 words per minute. Then if you divide 300 by 4 it also is 75 words per minute.

How to do 3/2b+1/5b=17 ?
guajiro [1.7K]

Answer:

b = 10

Explanation:

Lets start by combining like terms (b):

3/2b + 1/5b

to combine these fractions you must get them to both have the same denominator:

3/2 · 5/5 = 15/10     multiply top and bottom by other fractions denominator

1/5 · 2/2 = 2/10       multiply top and bottom by other fractions denominator

15/10 + 2/10 = 17/10

17/10b = 17

Now we want to get the b to be by itself, so lets first multiply both sides by 10:

17b = 170

Now lets divide both sides by 17:

b = 10

Hope this helped!

4 times as much as 3 is

4 times as much as 3 is 12.

<h3>Further explanation  </h3>

Consider the following sentence:

X times as many as Y refer to X multiplied by Y

Therefore, the phrase 4 times as much as 3 is ... can be rewritten to 4 multiplied by 3 is ... .

We can say this is a simple multiplication operation, which is one of four basic operations, i.e.,

  • addition,
  • subtraction,
  • multiplication, and
  • division.

However, the case we face is only a multiplication, not accompanied by another operation.

Let's go back to our problem. We think naturally about this multiplication. 4 times 3 means there are two options like the following:

  • Addition of 4 as many as 3 times (there are 3 terms).
  • Addition of 3 as many as 4 times (there are 4 terms).

Actually both are the same, i.e.,  3+ 3 + 3 + 3 = 12 or  4 + 4 + 4 = 12.

We state it quickly.

4 times as much as 3 is 4 x 3 = 12 or twelve.

Note:

The Commutative Property of Multiplication: \boxed{a \times b = b \times a}

Hence, \boxed{ \ 4 \times 3 = 3 \times 4 = 12\ }
