Common Sense was a pamphlet by Thomas Paine which advocated the independence of the Thirteen Colonies from Great Britain. The pamphlet was published in 1775-76, and became an enormous success. It was sold and distributed widely, and it had the largest sale and circulation of any book published in American history in proportion to the population of the colonies at that time.

In this section, Paine discusses the situation of the kings in England. He believes them to be ruffians (a bully or a villain) who profit at the expense of the people. It implies that Paine does not think the monarchy in England is responsible and useful. It is likely he does not think them necessary either. This position aligns with his pro-independence arguments.

When an argument is deductively valid, its ___________ guarantee the truth of its ______________.
Y_Kistochka [10]

When an argument is deductively valid, its truth of premises guarantee the truth of its conclusion.

What is a deductively valid argument?

A deductive argument is an argument intended by the arguer to be deductive, that is, to provide a guarantee of the truthfulness of the conclusion provided that the premises of the argument are true.

It can also be expressed by saying that, in a deductive argument, the premises are intended to provide strong support for the conclusion that if the premises were true, the conclusion could not be false.

The argument in which the premise succeeds in securing the conclusion is called a valid (inferential) argument. If a valid argument has a true premise, the argument is also said to be valid. All arguments are valid or invalid, and valid or not; there's no middle point, like there's some relevance.
