Answer:

Speed of boat in still water is  14 km/hr and speed of current is 8 km/hr

Step-by-step explanation:

Average speed of down stream = 22 km/h

Average speed of up stream = 6 km/hr

Consider the speed of boat in still water be  x km/hr and speed of current be  y  km/hr

As such speed of down stream would be  x + y km/hr and speed of down stream would be  x - y km/hr. i.e

x+y = 22

x-y = 6

by solving these two equation, we get

2x=28

x=14 km/hr

y=16-13

y=8 km/hr

Hence, the speed of boat in still water is  14 km/hr and speed of current is 8 km/hr

What is the outlier of 29, 2, 28, 30, 26, 31
Vladimir [108]

Answer:

2

Step-by-step explanation:

Given the data : 29, 2, 28, 30, 26, 31

Outlier ;

Lower :Q1 - (1.5 * IQR)

Upper : Q3 + (1.5 * IQR)

Q1 = Lower quartile ; Q3 = upper quartile ; IQR = Interquartile range

Using calculator :

Q1 = 26

Q3 = 30

IQR = (Q3 - Q1) = 30 - 26 = 4

Lower : 26 - (1.5 * 4) = 20

Upper : 30 + (1.5 * 4) = 36

Hence, the number in the given data which falls outside the range is 2

What is y=x-4 2x+y=5
ahrayia [7]
If you would like to solve y = x - 4 and 2 * x + y = 5, you can do this using the following steps:

y = x - 4
2 * x + y = 5
_____________
2 * x + (x - 4) = 5
2 * x + x = 5 + 4
3 * x = 9     /3
x = 9 / 3
x = 3

y = x - 4 = 3 - 4 = -1

The correct result would be x = 3 and y = -1.

Find the equation for the line that passes through the point (1,3), and that is perpendicular to the line with the equation y +
Marianna [84]

Step-by-step explanation:

the slope of a line function is always the factor of x.

in our case : -1/4

it is the ratio y/x indicating how many units y changes, when x changes a certain amount of units.

in our case y decreases by 1 for every x increase by 4.

now, the perpendicular slope simply changes x and y upside-down and flips the sign.

in our case it is : 4/1 = 4

so, the line function in point slope form is then (using the new slope and the point coordinates)

y - 3 = 4(x - 1)
