Answer:

Mr. Wright taught 1,050 students in 25 years.

Step-by-step explanation:

Given,

The number of students Mr. Wright taught = 18,

Also, every year the number of student is increased by 2,

So, in second year, the number of students = 18 + 2 = 20,

In third year = 20 + 2 = 22,

In fourth year = 22 + 2 = 24,

.............., so on,

Hence, we get an A.P. that shows the given situation,

18, 20, 22, 24, ............. till 25 years.....

First term, a = 18,

Common difference, d = 2,

And, number of terms, n = 25,

Hence, the total number of students that have been taught by him are,

S_n=\frac{n}{2}[2a+(n-1)d]

S_{25}=\frac{25}{2}[36+(25-1)2]

=\frac{25}{2}[36+24\times 2]

=\frac{25}{2}[36+48]

=\frac{25}{2}(84)

=\frac{2100}{2}

=1050

Third option is correct.

2/11

Step-by-step explanation:

Probability is the LIKELIHOOD of an event.

According to the word problem, there are 11 people in total and 2 of them are being selected.

The probability of them being the 2 oldest people is 2 in 11, or 2/11.

A park is in the shape of a rectangle. The park is 5/8 mile long and 2/3 mile wide. What is the area of the park?
Elenna [48]
To find the area of a rectangle, you times the length and width together.
So in this case,
5/8 x 2/3 = 10/24.
This can be simplified to 5/12

6 people consists of 3 married couples. Each couple wants to sit with older partner on the left.
Lera25 [3.4K]

a. The first part asks for how many ways they can be seated together in a row. Therefore we want the permutations of the set of 6 people, or 6 factorial,

6! = 6 * 5

= 30 * 4

= 360 * 2 = 720 possible ways to order 6 people in a row

b. There are two cases to consider here. If the doctor were to sit in the left - most seat, or the right - most seat. In either case there would be 5 people remaining, and hence 5! possible ways to arrange themselves.

5! = 5 * 4

= 20 * 3

= 120 * 1 = 120 possible ways to arrange themselves if the doctor were to sit in either the left - most or right - most seat.

In either case there are 120 ways, so 120 + 120 = Total of 240 arrangements among the 6 people if the doctor sits in the aisle seat ( leftmost or rightmost seat )

c. With each husband on the left, there are 3 people left, all women, that we have to consider here.

3!  = 3 * 2 6 ways to arrange 3 couples in a row, the husband always to the left
