Given:
The largest circle has a radius of R=7 units.
Let x be the radius of the large shaded circle.
The small shaded circles have a radius of 1/5 of the large shaded circle.
=> the small shaded circles have a radius of r=x/5

By adding up radii, we have the equation
2(r+x+r)=2(x/5+x+x/5)=2R=2*7=14
Simplify:
7x/5=14/2
x=5
=> r=1

Area of outer circle                  = \pi R^2=\pi7^2=49\pi
Area of large shaded circle      = \pi x^2=\pi5^2=25\pi
Area of 4 small shaded circles = 4\pi r^2=4\pi1^2=4\pi
Total area of shaded circles     =25\pi+4\pi=29\pi

Shaded area as a fraction of that of the outer circle
=\frac{29\pi}{49\pi}=29/49

What is the slope of the line through the points (2, 4) and (2, -11)?
Shkiper50 [21]

Answer:

The slope of the line would be undefined

Step-by-step explanation:

First you take the y of the second point and subtract it from the y of the first point. -11 - 4. That leaves you with -15. Then you take the x of the second point and subtract it from the x of the first point. that leaves you with 0. Then you put y over x. You then have -1`5/0. That is undefined.

Write the quadratic function in standard form.<br> f(x) = 6x^2 − x + 1
AlexFokin [52]

Answer:

The equation in standard form is:

f(x)=6(x-\frac{1}{12})^2-\frac{23}{24}

Step-by-step explanation:

Given function:

f(x)=6x^2-x+1

We need to convert this in standard form which is given by:

f(x)=a(x-h)^2+k

where a represent co-efficient of leading term which is x^2

and (h,k) is the vertex (minimum and maximum point) of the curve.

h can be found out using formula h=\frac{-b}{2a}

a=6\ and\  b=-1

h=\frac{-(-1)}{2(6)}=\frac{1}{12}

We can find k by finding f(h) as k=f(h).

k=f(\frac{1}{12})=6(\frac{1}{12})^2-\frac{1}{12}+1

k=(6\times \frac{1}{144})-\frac{1}{12}+1

k=\frac{1}{24}-\frac{1}{12}+1

k=\frac{1-2+24}{24}=\frac{23}{24}

Thus the equation in standard form is:

f(x)=6(x-\frac{1}{12})^2-\frac{23}{24}
