Answer:

(a) A = 0.650 m

(b) f = 1.3368 Hz

(c) E = 17.1416 J

(d)  K = 11.8835 J

     U = 5.2581 J

Explanation:

Given

m = 1.15 kg

x = 0.650 cos (8.40t)

(a) the amplitude,

A = 0.650 m

(b) the frequency,

if we know that

ω = 2πf = 8.40    ⇒   f = 8.40 / (2π)

⇒   f = 1.3368 Hz

(c) the total energy,

we use the formula

E = m*ω²*A² / 2

⇒  E = (1.15)(8.40)²(0.650)² / 2

⇒  E = 17.1416 J

(d) the kinetic energy and potential energy when x = 0.360 m.

We use the formulas

K = (1/2)*m*ω²*(A² - x²)       (the kinetic energy)

and

U = (1/2)*m*ω²*x²              (the potential energy)

then

K = (1/2)*(1.15)*(8.40)²*((0.650)² - (0.360)²)

⇒  K = 11.8835 J

U = (1/2)*(1.15)*(8.40)²*(0.360)²

⇒  U = 5.2581 J

The pressure exerted by a liquid column of depth 0.5 m on the base of its
Alik [6]

Answer:

1020.4kg/m³

35m³

Explanation:

Given parameters:

Depth  = 0.5m

Pressure exerted  = 5000N/m²

Unknown = density of the liquid  = ?

Solution:

To find the density of this unknown liquid, we use the expression below:

       Pressure of liquid  = density x height x acceleration due to gravity

   5000 = density x 0.5 x 9.8

    Density  = 1020.4kg/m³

B.

Density of water  = 1000kg/m³

Mass of water  = 35000kg

 Unknown:

Volume of water  = ?

Solution:

 The volume of water can be derived from the expression below:

   Volume  = \frac{mass}{density}

  Volume  = \frac{35000}{1000}    = 35m³

In Space, an astronaut releases a wrench from his hand. The wrench has a mass of 4 grams and is traveling with a velocity of -15
Vladimir [108]

Answer:

v_2=8.85\times 10^{-4}\ m/s

Explanation:

We have,

Mass of a wrench, m₁ = 4 g = 0.004 kg

Speed of wrench, v₁ = -15 m/s

Mass of the Astronaut, m₂ = 70 kg

It is required to find Astronaut's velocity. Let it is v₂. Using the conservation of linear momentum to find it.

m_1v_1=m_2v_2\\\\v_2=\dfrac{m_1v_1}{m_2}\\\\=\dfrac{0.004\times (-15)}{70}\\\\=-8.85\times 10^{-4}\ m/s

So, his velocity is 8.85\times 10^{-4}\ m/s.

A0.350 kg iron horseshoe that is initially at 600°C is dropped into a bucket containing 21.9 kg of water at 21.8°C. What is the
Svetach [21]

Answer: 22.8^0C

Explanation:-

Q_{absorbed}=Q_{released}

As we know that,

Q=m\times c\times \Delta T=m\times c\times (T_{final}-T_{initial})

m_1\times c\times (T_{final}-T_1)=-[m_2\times c\times (T_{final}-T_2)]

where,

m_1 = mass of iron horseshoe = 0.35 kg = 350 g (1kg=1000g[/tex]

m_2 = mass of water = 21.9 kg = 21900 g

T_{final} = final temperature = ?

T_1 = temperature of iron horseshoe = 600^oC

T_2 = temperature of water = 21.8^oC

c_1 = specific heat of iron horseshoe = 0.450J/g^0C

c_2 = specific heat of water =  4.184J/g^0C

Now put all the given values in equation (1), we get

m_1\times c_1\times (T_{final}-T_1)=-[m_2\times c_2\times (T_{final}-T_2)]

350\times 0.450\times (T_{final}-600)^0C=-[21900g\times 4.184\times (T_{final}-21.8)]

T_{final}=22.8^0C

Therefore, the final equilibrium temperature is 22.8^0C.
