One group (A) contains 390 people. Three-fifths of the people in group A will be selected to win $100 fuel cards. There is anoth
svetoff [14.1K]

The ratio of nonwinners in group A to nonwinners in group B after the selections are made is 156 : 319.

What is the ratio?

Ratio expresses the relationship between two or more numbers. It shows the frequency of the number of times that one value is contained within other value(s).

Nonwinners in group A = (1 - 3/5) x 390 = 156

Winners in group B = (390 - 156) = 234

nonwinners in group B = 553 - 234 = 319

The ratio = 156 : 319

One 16-oz can of vegetable soup cost $1.78. Two pints of vegetable soup cost $3.17. Which option is the better deal?
aleksklad [387]
One 16 oz can of veggie soup cost $ 1.78......1.78/16 = 0.11 per oz

1 pint = 16 oz......so 2 pints = (2 * 16) = 32 oz

so 32 oz ( or 2 pints) of veggie soup cost $ 3.17.....3.17/32 = 0.10 per oz

so the better deal (the cheapest one) is the 2 pints for $ 3.17

Is each line parallel, perpendicular, or neither parallel nor perpendicular to the line −2x+3y=12? Drag each choice into the box
jeka57 [31]

We are given first equation: −2x+3y=12.

Converting it in slope-intercept form

3y=2x + 12

y= 2/3 x + 12/3

y= 2/3 x + 4.

Slope of the given equation is 2/3.

Note: When slopes are same, lines would be parallel.

When slope are negative reciprocals, lines would be perpendicular.

When neither same nor negative reciprocal, the lines neither parallel nor perpendicular.

1) First option : -2x+y=12.

In slope-intercept form y = 2x +12.

Slope is 2 there.

Neither parallel nor perpendicular to the line −2x+3y=12.

2) 3x+2y=-2

In slope-intercept form y = -3/2 x - 1.

Slope = -3/2.

Slope are negative reciprocal to slope of −2x+3y=12 equation.

Therefore, lines are perpendicular.

3) y=2/3x-1

Slope = 2/3.

Slopes are same therefore lines are parallel.

4) -2x+3y=11

y = 2/3 x + 11/3.

Slopes are same therefore lines are parallel.
